Quick Fan-Art Update--March 11th, 2006

This is just a quick fan-art update. There is 1 new fan-wallpaper, and 21 new fan-arts, including two which are from SR2 art lead and Defiance art director Dan Cabuco!

Yes, we're still around --January 1st, 2006

Having completed a college semester that left us with little time for anything else, we've taken advantage of winter break to add the remainder of the long overdue eligible fan-works we've received thus far, and to let those who watch the site know that we're still around.

New this update:

1 conceptual render of Kain from an old Gamepro article added to the SR1 Image gallery

As always, there's still a great deal we would like to do for this site. These additions will realistically continue to be slow-going, but we hope a lighter work load for the next semester will allow us some time to work on these projects.

Mostly Fan-Arts --June 30th, 2005

This is another big Fan-arts update. Unless the unexpected happens, we should be completely caught up with adding all the backed-up arts with the next update. This update is a few days overdue thanks to some urgent, necessary dental work. 'o_0;

Anniversary - Fan-Works --June 3rd, 2005

As of today, this site is 6 years old.

This update we dedicated our attention to the backlogged, pending, and previously rejected fan-work submissions that we've received over the past three hectic years. We believe that we are now finally caught up on them. We have revised our system for cataloguing fan-fics to hopefully prevent this inorganization from happening again, and revised our rules to (hopefully) let everyone know in advance what we are willing to publish. Not all of the fan-arts we've received are yet posted in this update, but that's simply because we've gotten so many of them recently, and we wanted to give them all a sizeable piece of the 'limelight'. Much more fan-art is soon to come in the next two updates following this one. We will try to have another update in 2-3 weeks.

We also did a little work on the Fan-Art pages. Instead of displaying the new fan-arts on the same page as the oldest fan-arts, the new arts now have their own page after the next-most recently submitted arts. The Fan-Art pages that are sorted by artists have been broken down into smaller pages, so that each page will hopefully load faster for visitors with dial-up.

There is also a new image on Blood Omen's Promotional Images page, courtesy of Berit Jurda. You can see some of Berit's artwork in this update, and s/he will have even more in the next.

We would like to thank everyone who has made an honest attempt to create interesting LoK fan-works, intelligent forum posts, and encouraging guestbook entries. You compel us to continue this site, and more importantly, help to keep the Legacy alive.

Updates have been admittedly sporadic for the past few years. Between college, work, and family, we're afraid there is no end to this in sight. However, we promise that we will continue to expand and evolve the site as we are intellectually and physically able. It will not be abandoned.

Defiance Section Updated --November 8th, 2004

The Defiance section of the site has finally been given a new design, along with illustrated Dialogue pages, like the ones found in the Blood Omen and Soul Reaver sections. (Similar pages are planned for SR2 and BO2, though we cannot promise how quickly they will be completed.) We have also added the images that were included among Defiance's bonus materials to their respective galleries. This adds:
14 new concept arts to the BO section,
4 new concept arts to the SR section,
2 new concept arts to the SR2 section,
79 new concept arts to Defiance's section, and
30 promotional images to Defiance's section.

Defiance's Screenshots page has been trimmed down considerably, as most of these images were taken from pre-release material, and either inaccurate or poor quality. We will be adding more screenshots that we have taken ourselves in the future.

The BO2 section has also received new images. We have added 29 of the concept arts that were in BO2's credits. (Some are in better condition than others. We will add better copies later on if we can get them.)

The Links page on the fan community section of the site has been updated.

Again, if you have submitted a fan-work that was added in this update, you will receive an e-mail notification. We will do our best to finish getting completely caught up on fan-work submissions by our next update.

Defiance Was Awesome, Reality Sucks --August 27th, 2004

The struggle continues for time to accurately, creatively, justly, and enthusiastically work on the site amidst all the necessary evils of life. Several projects are underway that we hope will be finished in the near future. In the meantime, we have enough material to do an update now.

There are 27 new fan-arts, 8 new fan-fics, (one being a continuation) 5 fan-wallpapers, and a winamp skin. We have also added a BO2 map, created from screenshots in the opening cinematic. There is a new link in the SR section to the site of a GlyphX artist. And a third mailing list has been started, as Nosgothic Realm now has 1,000+ subscribers. (!)

Unfortunately, the Defiance section has not yet been given its own visual theme. (We really hope to have one ready by the next update.) However it has received the complete list of credits, 2 more official wallpapers, cheat codes, and 16 new concept arts thanks to Crystal Dynamics artist, Kory Heinzen.

If you have submitted fan-works that you do not see in this update, please be patient a little longer as we work to get on top of everything. If your work has been added in this update, we will send you a confirmation e-mail to notify you. This is a practice that we hope to continue in the future if time allows.

Defiance --November 10th, 2003

Defiance is just around the corner! The section of the site dedicated to this newest addition to the LoK series has received an update to the Credits page, 14 new concept arts, 5 new wallpapers, 28 new promotional images, and 85 new screenshots!

The Fan-Works pages have received 29 new fan-arts, 4 new fan-fics, 5 new fan wallpapers, and 3 new Winamp skins.

Additionally, another concept art has been added to SR2's Image gallery, and 7 more concept arts have been added to BO2's Image gallery. The Mp3s have been disabled for the remainder of the month in order to conserve bandwidth for the rest of the site. Thanks go to Lord Yaksha for pointing out the absence of several lines from SR's Dialogue section.

Defiance News & Fan Works --September 12th, 2003

The Defiance section has received new information, a new name added to the list of known credits, and a total of 58 new screenshots. (11 of these screenshots were officially released, 12 were scanned from magazines, and 35 were taken from the trailers.)

Our thanks to Soul Deceaver for allowing us to post 4 screenshots he scanned from a German GamePro magazine, Preacher for providing us with an article that was in UK magazine, Playstation Gamer, and Preacher, Lucinvampire, and Chibi J for posting their accounts of playing the Defiance demo that was available at the Playstation Experience in London.

There are 10 new fan-fics, 34 new fan-arts, 1 new fan-skin, and 5 new fan-wallpapers.

We've also added a more detailed map of Nosgoth for Blood Omen, and reconstructed the timeline that was included on the PS2 version of SR2.

Defiance, Links and SR2 Concept Arts --July 21st, 2003

The Defiance section has received additional information, an incomplete Credits page, 3 new promotional images, and twenty-three new screenshots. Special thanks goes to Preacher for informing us of the Defiance screenshots found in the August issue of PSM.

We've also updated six separate Links pages for each section of the site. Concept art by Kory Heinzen has been added to the SR2 Images section. And thirteen new fan-arts have been added to the Fan-Works section.

Defiance Info --July 4th, 2003

Defiance's section of the site now has an Information page, which will be continuously updated as more becomes known of this next upcoming title. The information that is currently there has been gathered from magazine articles, IGN, and GameSpot. More screenshots of Defiance have also been added.

A different variation of the SR2 map has been made, showing the areas of Nosgoth that Raziel visits, as they are highlighted in the game.

The Fan-Works section has received 2 new fan-fics, 9 new fan-arts, and 4 new fan-wallpapers.

Major site update --June 14th, 2003

Finally, roughly one week after this website's 4 year anniversary, Nosgothic Realm returns with another new look. Visual themes have been applied to each section of the site dedicated to a game in the LoK series, as well as to the fan community-based section of the site. (The Defiance section, however, will be sharing the fan community section's theme until more is known about this upcoming title.)

Both the Blood Omen and Soul Reaver Dialogue sections have been revised with the addition of new images and lines that were previously absent. New images have been added to the galleries of each game, the credits for each game have been added to their respective sections, cheat codes have been added for Soul Reaver 2 and Blood Omen 2, and Soul Reaver 2's map of Nosgoth has been added as well.

I have also officially entered a partnership for expanding/maintaining this site with Tenaya, who worked with me every step of the way in this latest incarnation of Nosgothic Realm. If it weren't for this collaboration, this update would never have been possible.

We will be continuing to tweak the design and add new sections. We'd also like to hear your thoughts on the changes. Any comments, suggestions, or notifications of problems encountered with the site can either be emailed to cyborreaver@nosgoth.net, or posted in the Nosgothic Realm forum.

The fan-works have been updated as well -- 12 fan-arts, 4 fan-wallpapers, and 4 new fan-fictions were added.
