This forum has grown to the extent that it was deemed necessary to write a set of Frequently Asked Questions so that all new members can come in knowing the ropes. In this mini-FAQ, we hope to answer all your questions about the board, and we welcome you to the discussions. [Note: topics marked with a skull ( A. Well, we come from all over – the States, Europe, even Singapore.
We all share an interest in talking about Legacy of Kain and whatever else
comes to mind. Some of us will share our personal lives, some won’t.
A good rule of thumb – don’t push the issue. For the most part, we’re
quite amiable, so join in!
A. On this board, only registered users may post. You can register
with ezboard as either a global or a local user. A global account
will allow you access to all ezboard forums, but may have a narrower selection
of user names that can be chosen. A local account specifically applies
to the Nosgothic Realm forums, but may have a broader selection of user
names that can be chosen.
A. Anything you want, with a few exceptions. Your name shouldn't
be pornographic or hateful toward other people. It should not exceed
26 characters in length (including spaces). Also, you must choose
a name, or a variation of a name, that is not already being used by someone
with the same type of account (global/local) as you are.
A. Introduce yourself! We like it when new blood says hello.
A. Large images increase the time that it takes for pages to load
so that everyone can view them. For this reason, your personal photo
(shown under your name and stats) should be no more than 150 pixels in
width, 200 pixels in height, and 20 kb. Personal icons (displayed
next to your name) should be as small as possible, but no larger than 70
pixels in width, 35 pixels in height, and 10 kb. Signatures should
not exceed 400 pixels in width, 200 pixels in height, and 20 kb.
Note that an image can exceed the guidelines for file size (kb) without
exceeding the guidelines for pixel count, increasing the loading time and
causing scrolling problems. Make a smaller version of the image you
intend to use as personal image using an image editing program, and place
this on a separate web page. Then this smaller version of the image
can be linked to ezboard’s control center, and its size regulated if necessary.
If you don't have access to any image editing programs, other members may
be willing to edit it for you if asked in the Mausoleum forum. Animations
should not be used for the personal images or signatures, as these slow
down the load times of the pages considerably.
A. This involves a little HTML trick that ezboard doesn't explain
in their FAQ's. You need to include width and height tags after the
URL of the pic in your personal preferences. For example, say the image
you want to use is 100 X 130 pixels. You would type: WIDTH=100
HEIGHT=130 after the URL. If you don't specify a size this
way, then the default size they are displayed at is 60 X 60 pixels.
Unfortunately, adding these tags to the end of the photo’s URL makes it
unviewable in your control center and in your profile.
A. No. Due to the increasing amount of bandwidth needed to display
the Nosgoth.net site, it is forbidden to remote-link (picture link) to
images on the site. When you drain bandwidth from this site it causes it
to be un-viewable to all other fans until the next month, when the bandwidth
is renewed.
A. Most topics can be discussed, as long as you stay on-topic.
Here is a breakdown of the forums:
Q. How can I avoid having my topics thrown in “The Abyss”? A. There are a few rules-of-thumb about posting that, if followed, will keep
you from joining Raziel at the bottom of the Abyss. If you are an
experienced Net denizen, you already know most of these, but it never hurts
to learn:
Q. What is a TTWND? A. Funny you should ask! A TTWND is a Thread That Would
Not Die. Most of us are very tired of seeing these, but should not
flame newer members for bringing them up. Most of us at one point have
asked questions that were previously asked. If you see a thread that
asks about a TTWND, either disregard it or point the member to the answers
they seek. Flaming members about such topics will not be tolerated.
A. There are a few voluntary moderators who have been authorized
by the administrator, (CyborReaver/Wolf Reven) to edit, delete, or move
posts if they become excessively hostile. Moderators also have the
power to ban people who persist in hostile or disruptive behavior.
A. All persons wanting to be included, should inquire about it within
the RPG forum, itself. The Gamemaster (Gm) will decide if there is
room available in the game for your character.
A. Yes... please read the amendment regarding disagreements/flamewars etc. |
