Chapter 2
|
In Bat Form, Kain retreated to a place where the armies of Light would find it very difficult to follow--Nupraptor's Retreat. It was only when Kain resumed human form when he realized how much of his possesions had been taken from him, all he had left was the pants he wore underneath his armor, Vorador's ring and the Soul Reaver. As Kain attacked imaginary foes, he noticed a change in the blade. He looked at the spot where Ottmar's had touched the sword, and that part of the sword was a light gray, instead of it's normal dark black. "Ottmar...damn you AND your holy magic." Kain muttered to himself. As Kain wandered through the Retreat he idily wondered how this would affect the Reavers battle capibilities. He also wondered how long it would be until he needed to feed, or until food came to his door. Eventually Kain came upon the room where he had battled Nupraptor, chuckling to himself as he passed Nupraptor's quickly decaying corpse, he made his way to the back of the room, where he found Nupraptor's Sanctuary. Taking one of the few remaining clean needles from where Nupraptor had sewn his eyes and mouth shut, Kain jabbed the needle into his ear, and, before the wound could close he clamped Vorador's Ring in his ear. 'A bauble now that Vorador is dead, but a fitting tribute none the less.' Kain mused to himself. Then from the outside, Kain heard the arrival of an Army. Kain soon made his way back to the "Skull"
of the Retreat. When he looked outside, he saw something very strange indeed,
The Sarafan Army. "The Sarafan?! I thought that Malek, thier leader, was
destroyed!" Kain whispered to no one in particular. "The Sarafan have more
then ONE leader, Vampire." came a voice from the darkness. Kain whirled
around to face this new threat.
Raziel hefted the Greatsword, as did Kain,
the Soul Reaver. After many minutes of cautiously sizing each other up,
Kain became impatient for the battle.
Raziel rasied his hands to the heavens and uttered arcane words that caused a great outpour of magical energy. A ring of magic emenated from Raziel outwards. Kain was able to cast a spell of shielding just in time. As the spell ended, the ground began to shake, the spel had destroyed most of the foundation holding the top of the "Skull" to the rest of the Retreat. Raziel turned and looked around in surprise, he realized what had and looked downward....to see the Reaver protruding from his chest. "You tunred your back on me, NEVER turn your backon a Vampire, right Sarafan?" Kain sneered in conpempt. "The Sarafan will storm this place, you will die." Raziel said weakly. "I won't be here." Kain said. Then Raziel heard the sounds of Bats taking off into flight, then nothing...save the cold emptiness of the Abyss. |
