The Legacy Of A Legacy

Chapter 5

Kauvin very slowly led Loid to the room where Raziel, Kain, and Raziana were. Loid was in his late sixties, and Kauvin didn't want to give Loid a heart attack whenever the vampires were shown to him.
"I really do wish that you would tell me where we are going...," Loid said, his wispy white hair pressed down on his head.
"Somewhere..," Kauvin answered shortly. "Now look... The people I'm going to introduce you to aren't really humans... They're.....well....uh...not mortal.."
Loid looked at Kauvin with a confused stare, but shrugged and kept following. Once they were at the door, Kauvin knocked very lightly. A voice that could only be Raziana's answered.
"Who iiiiis it?" she asked sweetly.
         "Kauvin..........and Loid..."
Kauvin heard a lot of whispering and moving around. Finally, Kain's voice, which sent shudders down Kauvin's spine, bade them to come in.  Loid entered first and, after a few moments, Loid nearly killed Kauvin while charging out of the room.
"ARE YOU MAD!!?? THOSE ARE VAMPIRES!!! AND ONE OF THEM IS KAIN!!!" Loid yelled as loud as his faint voice would allow.
Raziana turned to Kain and Raziel.
"I told you to hide! But nobody listens to the genius here...!" she growled.
"Actually, Raziel listened quite well," Kain replied. "He listened to me...."
Immediately, Raziana hurled a pillow at Kain, which he easily and quickly dodged. Kauvin came back in guiding Loid, but Loid was blindfolded.
"Why is the man blinded?" asked Raziel.
Kauvin looked up for a split second.
"He doesn't want to see a vampire baring down on him, it's fangs piercing his neck...."
Raziana felt her fangs with her tongue, then shrugged.  "Hmh... Okay..."
After much coaxing and reassuring from Kauvin, Loid finally agreed to stay in the room, but he remained blindfolded.
"So...," Loid started, sounding very small and frightened. "You wish to know of the Illuminations, eh?"
Raziana nodded.  "Yep... You're the only one who knows the antidote for most of the Illumination's poisons and toxins..."
Loid gave a little bob of his head.  "Yes, yes... I am... But tell me, why do you wish to know these antidotes?"
         Raziana paused, but Raziel didn't.
"The Illuminations are here..," Raziel answered quickly.
Loid let out a little squeak. The glass of the lone window suddenly shattered and an arrow thudded into Loid's throat. The arrow was shot with such power, that it buried itself to the feather in Loid's thin throat.  Raziana squeaked in surprise and fell back. Kauvin looked up and saw an archer, riding a black horse, fly off, bow slung over his shoulder. Raziana stared in shock at the arrow embedded in Loid's throat. Already blood trailed from the old man's mouth.
"Oh man...," moaned Kauvin. "Loid was one of the most important men in the entire city! And now he's dead!"
Raziana was now no longer listening, she slowly disappeared into thin air.  Ariel, Nupraptor, Moebius, Mortanius, and Malek appeared, all seemed frightened.
"Is this what drives her to create the portal?" asked Mortanius, sounding surprised and almost frightened.
"What?!" asked Raziel. "What portal!? Tell me!"
Moebius turned to both Kain and Raziel.  "It's a portal when Raziana brings back whomever she or History wants...."
         "History?!" growled Kain.
         "Yes..," Ariel replied. "History-"
"HERE IT COMES!!!" yelled Malek, bracing himself.
The entire earth began to shake violently, sending everyone tumbling around.  The group raced outside and saw Raziana up high in the sky. A huge swirling vortex of black and dark blue clouds circled above her. Raziana's hair
whipped wildly in the violent winds that had suddenly picked up. A voice that sounded like Malek's and Moebius's voices mixed rang through the air.
         "Come to me, vampire lieutenants!"
"NO!!!" cried Ariel. "DON'T BRING THEM BACK!!!"
"It is too late...," Nupraptor replied sadly.
Five bright streaks of light shot out of the vortex and landed in one spot of the city.

Kristaufer, riding Relantia, watched the scene unfolding above the city.  "My, my, my... It seems that Raziana doesn't have any control over History.... What do you think, Relantia..?"
"I agree with you, my love..," Relantia purred. Her voice was smooth yet icy. "Raziana is too weak to have any control over History... How she has lasted this long is beyond me..."
Kristaufer stroked Relantia's thick mane.  "Do you not remember? History must have a host or hostess.... Raziana's
it.."
There was a sudden and blinding flash of white light that seemed to engulf everything. The light soon dimmed, and Kristaufer was left chuckling darkly to himself.
"All we do now is wait... Wait for the right time to strike...," Kristaufer said, lightly kicking Relantia in the flanks. Relantia whinnied loudly and soon the two were airborne.

Raziel groaned as he slowly got up. The flash of light had knocked everybody unconscious, but Kain was already up. Suddenly, Raziel remembered Raziana. "Raziana! Where is she!?"
Kain said nothing, but pointed behind Raziel. Raziel whipped around and saw Raziana, looking as weak and lifeless as a rag doll, lying on the ground.  Her skin was almost completely white. Raziel knelt down and lifted Raziana's
head.
         "Raziana?"
"Unh.... Oof... What the..? What happened?"
It was quite noticeable that something of Raziana was different. The light, nonchalant tone was erased from her voice forever. Her eyes, no, her soul, seemed darker.
"You, I mean, History brought back the rest of the vampire lieutenants...," Malek said, no longer a ghost.
Raziana got up and looked around. She seemed tired, defeated, yet she moved around fluidly.
"You aren't ghosts anymore... Except Malek's still just armor, but he has a physical body..."
Nupraptor, his eyes and mouth open, nodded. Raziana held up a claw.
"How were you able to talk to me and the others with you mouth shut?"
         Nupraptor rolled his eyes.  "Telepathy..."
         "I see..," Raziana said.
"But now we have a major problem....," Ariel said. "There are five vampires on the loose in a human city.."
Kain, who had been leaning against a wall, walked forward.  "I will go find the lieutenants.. Raziel, you-"
"Wait a minute," interrupted Malek. "Since when did Kain become our ruler?"
Kain jerked around.  "If you have any better ideas, say so now.."
         Malek was silent.
"That's what I thought..," Kain said with a nod. He then turned back to Raziel and Raziana. "Follow me.."
         Ariel walked towards Raziana.
"The others and I will take care of the humans... You three better leave while you still can without getting caught..."

Turel rubbed his head and slowly opened his eyes. At the feel of his hair, Turel immediately looked himself down. Everything of him was restored, not a shred of mutation marred his body.
Turel then looked around and saw his brothers knocked out and lying sprawled over the ground. All of them were restored as well. No mutations were visible on their pale bodies.  Turel smirked and walked over to Melchiah. He kicked his youngest brother awake. Melchiah awoke with a start, shaking his head and whining for Turel to stop kicking him. He finally realized that he wasn't mutated.
"I-I-I'm restored!!" he cried, staring at his hands.
"So is all of our brothers..," Turel said glancing around.
After all of the vampire lieutenants had awoken and gotten over the shock of being restored to their more "handsome" state, they began to question where they were.
"I wonder if Master Kain is here..," Rahab murmured wonderingly.
Zephon snorted disdainfully.  "Weak fool! Why should we wait for that decadent vampire to come in and
begin ordering us about?! I say we begin our own conquest of this place!"
All of the other vampires stared at Zephon with disgust, horror, or slight humor. Melchiah's expression was horror, Rahab's was disgust, and Dumah's and Turel's was vague humor. Zephon glared at Melchiah and jabbed him with his elbow.
"What are you staring at little brother?! Trying to attract flies?" he teased cruelly.
Melchiah shrugged and stepped back, but Rahab intervened before Zephon could say anything more.
         "Leave him alone, Zephon.."
Zephon smirked coldly.  "So... Big brother going to help little brother Melchiah? Don't even waste your time on that pathetic weakling..!"
Rahab narrowed his eyes.  "I said, leave him alone!"
But Zephon continued to push his older brother's patience.  "What will you do if I were to...do this!" Immediately after saying his remark, Zephon shoved Melchiah with all his might, sending Melchiah falling back into a nearby rock wall.
Rahab had witnessed enough. He jumped forward and punched his younger brother Zephon in the stomach. Zephon let out a soft groan and doubled over.
All the time, Turel and Dumah watched the scene unfold with supreme arrogance.
Rahab walked over and helped Melchiah up. Rahab had always silently pitied his little brother, Melchiah. So he despised it whenever Zephon got his sadistic fun out of torturing the youngest of them all. Melchiah mumbled a word of thanks and moved back, trying to avoid Zephon. Zephon sneered meanly at his younger brother, but another warning glare and shove from Rahab made him back down. Rahab then turned to his older brothers.
"I believe that we should wait here until our Master finds us..."
Dumah and Turel exchanged glances. They were lost in an unknown human city, by the looks of the architecture. Who knew how many vampire hunters there were patrolling the area. Turel barely nodded his head and Dumah turned to Rahab.
"We will give him ten minutes.. Then we shall begin our own exploration of this place...," Dumah stated arrogantly.
Rahab sighed heavily. He didn't like the answer, but it would have to do.  Turel and Dumah were both higher ranking and more powerful than he was, so there was not much he could do about it. Hopefully Master Kain would come to them before ten minutes was up.
Zephon sneered at Melchiah. No way was his barely older brother was going to take away his favorite past time. Zephon slowly shuffled over to Melchiah, who was toying with his clan symbol garb. Melchiah paid no heed to Zephon's approach or didn't even see his older brother coming. Either way, Zephon managed to get close enough to his brother and shove him down into the dusty ground, sending Melchiah sprawling down. Rahab jerked around and glared at Zephon. This was it enough of Zephon's cruel teasing. Rahab leaped forward and hoisted Zephon up by the throat.
"Enough is enough! Leave Melchiah alone!" Rahab hissed.
Zephon managed a disgusted smirk, but other than that, he merely nodded.  Rahab's glare never ceased, but he let his brother down. Zephon walked away from Rahab, but he still cast a mean leer at Melchiah. Melchiah shrugged off
the angry stare and went back to toying with his clan cloth.  Dumah lightly elbowed Turel.
"Do you seriously think that Kain is here?" he whispered, out of Rahab's earshot.
Turel shook his head.  "No... I doubt that.."
"That's where you would be wrong, Turel..,"  Kain's voice made both Dumah and Turel jump into the air and wheel around at the same time. Turel scratched his head nervously. "Master! You're here!" he stuttered.
Kain nodded vaguely.  "Yes.. Along with your eldest brother..."
"Raziel!?" was the chorus from the vampire lieutenants.
"But Master Kain, he murdered us!" yelled Melchiah.
Kain glared at his youngest son.  "Do you think I do not know that?! But we now have a bigger problem at hand... Kristaufer and the Illuminations have risen once again and-"
Immediately the lieutenants began to talk hurriedly and excitedly. Raziel walked up to Kain's left side. Had he been able, he would have smirked.  "Too many interruptions?" he asked calmly.
Kain frowned fiercely.  "SILENCE!! ALL OF YOU!!!" he roared furiously.
The lieutenants fell silent, all staring at Kain.
"As I was saying before I was so rudely interrupted," Kain continued.  "Kristaufer and his army of Illuminations has risen and, from what I've been told, he is planning to try and kill all of us.."
