Fall of the Clan

Chapter 1: Punishment

Kain stood over the corpse of a Razielim adult, the Soul Reaver drawing in the last of the vampire's soul. It's corpse faded away into the nether-realm, and Kain sheathed the Soul Reaver. I remained hidden in the shadows, fearing Kain's wrath. I felt along my back, and my hand came to rest on the protuding wings which we adults had grown after our executed father Raziel. The fledgelings only had small stubs on their backs to show their evolutions. The Clans were starting to change, adapting to their enviroments or their fathers' abilities, like the Zephonim were insect-like, after their father Zephon, now stuck to the walls of his chamber. We Razielim were growing wings like our father Raziel, and according to Kain we are to be executed as punishment for our father's "betrayal", evolving before Kain.
There are only a few of we stronger vampires left now (How ironic. The fledgelings have survived most, only because they were smart enough to not attack Kain head on. The adults of us have mostly perished, the higher ranking of us first.), Nasgar, our stongest fighter, and the General of the Razelim. Tenoah, a fledgeling who just changed into an adult a few days ago. And Kanos, Captain of the Razielim, and the best flyer out of us, who learned to use his wings as a weapon as well. I am Rasona, Commander of the Razielim, third in command to Raziel. I answer only to Him and Nasgar, but Nasgar is only my superior because of his luck. He should be dead, not once, twice or even three times. He should have been killed about 7 times if my memory serves. He is superior to me in use of weapons, but I am strongest of the surviving Razielim. The four of us have split up to try to help our surviving brothers. If only Raziel were here, Kain would think twice, perhaps.

Kain sheathed the Soul Reaver, and looked around, trying to find our readings. Kain could somehow sense life forces, his own sons, our Father and his brothers, the best, but he could also sense us, so we had to push down our fear, anger, hate, everything, or we would be found. Then a small group of Razielim adults, fresh from the hunt of humans, flew downward from the skies, howling in rage at seeing the destruction upon their return. Leading them was my favoured brother, Tomah. He has almost as strong as myself, and was as good as Kanos with his flying abilities. Behind him were 3 others, Naros, Kirah and Rayvah. Rayvah held a stave, Kirah held a metal pole, and Naros held an axe, blood encrusted on it's blade.
"Kain! What have you done? What has happened to our Clan?" Tomah asked. Kain turned  to face him directly.
"Your Clan is to be destroyed, for my own reasons, but also because of your audacity to attempt to surpass me! You were all useful for my conquest of Nosgoth, but you have outlasted your usefulness." Kain drew the Soul Reaver from it's scabbard, and I swore I saw a flicker of energy glide over him and the Soul Reaver. So... the ledgends may be true. The Soul Reaver is an ancient sword, and it's blade is supposed to be possesed by powerful demons. It is supposed to drink the souls of it's victims, hence it's name. We thought these only ledgends, but Raziel said when Kain drew the Soul Reaver against you, you were as good as dead.

Tomah drew his own sword, then charged at Kain. "Die Kain!" He yelled, and just as he reached Kain, he leapt to the side, away from the Soul Reaver's swings. Kain had tried to slice Tomah to pieces, using a flurry of slashes. He hadn't expected Tomah's leap. Tomah could move faster than most other Razielim, and was a blur, bounding off walls, the ground, and even bounded off of Kain a few times, getting a few quick slashes into him. Kain lost his temper, and teleported under an Archway, just as Tomah came flying over to where Kain had been seconds before. Tomah's balance was thrown off, and he fell to the ground rather hard. Kain fired arcs of energy at Tomah's body. Tomah screamed out in agony, and then his body caught fire. His soul was drawn into the Reaver's blade, and his body started to dissolve. Then Naros charged at Kain. Kain spun in a complete circle with the Soul Reaver outstretched, and Naros was sliced in half. His body had stated to dissolve before it hit the ground. Kirah and Rayvah started to advance, but I ordered them to stop. "We must seek help from the others! Kain's too strong for just the 3 of us! Follow me!" Kain shouted out, "Ha! You think you can defeat me? I could kill you all now, but I will let you go. I will enjoy the challange all of you will pose, because I've grown quite bored now." Kain disappeared, leaving only his laughter haunting the air. We took flight, hoping to find Nasgar first.

Kain watched from a darkened window, as the 3 took off, on their search for their friends. Foolish little children, he thought, even all of you together wont be able to take care of me! That Tomah, he had done good, but not even close than enough to greatly damage him. No... this is not how it will end. Raziel will return, and he might kill me, but I doubt this. He looked at the Soul Reaver, and was trying to understand why he would have to destroy it, only for Raziel to gain it in another form. Yes... this will prove to be interesting.
"Kain!" a voice cut in from behind him. He looked back, and saw a young, recently pupated vampire behind him.
"Ahh. Tenoah, yes? What do you want?"
The Razielim vampire was afraid, Kain could sense it. "Kain. You have killed my brothers and my Father. For that you shall die!" He pulled an axe and a round metal shield down from the wall, and charged at Kain. He was inexperienced at using his wings, that was certain. He flaped them clumsily, trying to lash out at Kain with them.
Kain easily avoided these pathetic attacks. He jumped back, and said, "Sadly, I must be off. But I shall leave you a small token of appreciation for such an amusing little scuffle. I suppose you would like to be closer to your father, would you? Of course you would. Here." Kain sheathed the Soul Reaver, and teleported behind Tenoah. Quick as a flash, he had unsheathed the Soul Reaver, then slashed out, and decapitated Tenoh. After the Soul Reaver absorbed his soul, Kain teleported to the tower linking Raziel's clan area to the Necropolis. He saw the drawbridge leading to the Necropolis was lowered, and fighting could be heard. Kain sensed Rasona was over there as wll as Nasgar and some others. They were fighting a small warband of the surviving Sarafan, but these were among the best fighters from the Sarafan, and they were stiking at Raziel's clan when they were down. Ha! Trust the cowards to try this kind of attack. Kain decided he would watch this little skirmish.

Rasona ripped the spine from an unlucky Sarafan who had attracted his attention. Nasgar was fighting their leader, and Kanos, Kirah and Rayvah were attacking from the skies. The Sarafan were trying to lead us over to the water, and were trying to knock them in. So far, 2 fledgelings had been knocked in. The humans were starting to retreat, and some even stripped off their armour, and swam to safety, but were attacked by Kanos and the others. Unfortunately, a human grabbed Kirah and pulled him under. The poor vampire burned away to nothing. Kanos swooped down and grabbed the humans arms, lifted him up and swooped over a bon-fire. He dropped the human in, then dived after another victim. I sensed Kain was near, and looked for him, while twisting a human's head right round, again and again, until his bones stopped breaking. I threw his body away and took to the air.
I flew over the battlefield and spotted Kain, standing outside a large window, gazing out at the bloodshed below. "Kain!" I shouted.
He looked up, and Nasgar appeared to my right. "So, you have decided to make your stand now? I must ammend you. Most don't have the nerve to challange me, even my own sons. Oh well... shall we begin?" Kain teleported down to the middle of the battlefield. He then said, "To make this fight fair, I wont use the Soul Reaver, on the condition that only one of you fight me at a time. If anyone else steps in, I shall be forced to use the Reaver. So, who's first?"
Nasgar stepped forward. "I shall go first. Kain, it is your turn to die!" He grabbed a spear and leapt at Kain. Kain side stepped the attack, then clawed Nasgar. Nasgar fell, clutching his face. A purple glow appeared in Kain's hands, which slowly expanded into a blue aura, and Kain fired his lightning bolts at Nasgar. "Poor Nasgar..." I thought. "His luck has finally run out." Nasgar's body slowly burned up, until all that was left was a skeleton.
        "Who's next?"
Kanos flew at Kain, flying to the side and cutting Kain with his winds. Kain grabbed his after he done this for about the fourth time, and ripped his wings off, then ripped his head off. Kain looked at me. "Ready to go?" he asked.
I knew there was no way I could beat Kain. He hadn't even broken into a sweat. He was clam, calculating, as if he knew he would win, as if it had all been foretold to him. Kain started to walk forwards, then I gave the order to retreat. We ran, Kain right behind us, until we reached the sloping path leading to a large hall, with a wall conecting to an underground lake, which leads to a drowned Abbey, populated by Rahab and his children. Kain stood at the enterance to the room, charging his lightning. I knew we were going to die. Kain unleashed his lightning at us, but a fledgeling jumped at him and attacked him. The lightning bolts pierced right through him, and hit the wall, which collapsed. The water flooded through, and Kain disappeared. I ran, fearing water's touch. I was too late. The water flooded the room quicker than I had thought. My brothers around me burned away, but, to my surprise, I had somehow survived.
