Prologue
| Hash'ak'gik decided it would be best to let
the pitiful necromancer do the fighting, so he could leave the form. Few
knew of the Dark Entity, and only the Circle of Nine - or what was the
Circle - knew of his origin.
Hash'ak'gik was the last member of a race of demons known only as Ethros to mankind. At one time his race was plentiful all over the newly create land of Nosogth, but when the vampire purges came, the Protectors of Hope blamed the Sarafan for the attack on it's members, the Sarafan blamed vampires in general, and the vampires feared the return of the Ethros from their al-Ashraad - a kind of hibernation that the race fell into beause of the damned Syreoli warlocks. The vampires then found the Cave of Ten Thousand Sorrows - where the demons slept - and killed creatures, then proceeding to use their hellfire-borne blood to create a sacred place of worship, allowing any Kindred graced by it's presence to be greatly enhanced in body and mind. The remnants of his species were than forced into the land of Eden, which soon became a total wasteland, killing all except him, who had been left for dead. When Anacrothe, the keeper of States, discovered his presence, he started a quest to destroy him. Finally, the bastard found the Dark Entity, and attacked him. Hash'ak'gik easily defeated him, scarring his face for life. He then proceeded to summon the inner Beast in the warlock and started to bring it out, when Anacrothe broke free. But doing so forced the wounded side of his face to be overwhelmed with scales from the Beast. The coward then fled to the Avernus cathedral to find a volunteer for his next devious scheme. Mortanius, the keeper of Death was chosen to take in the demon. He ripped open his chest and replaced his heart with a Rukyaan gem, an Ethros bait, and entered the cave of Hash'ak'gik. He put up a valiant fight attacking with hordes of the ,necronmically summoned corpses, but in the end the Unspoken got to the gem and was imprisoned inside Mortanius. The necromancer was always fighting the will of the Beast within, but at times he could not win and was forced to commit horrible deeds, such as murdering Ariel, the keeper of Balance. Finally, it all became too overwhelming, and he destroyed his manifest form and trapped himself in the spectral realm, where the demon was powerless, and started his own escapade to right the land of Nosgoth, using a murdered nobleman named Kain as a tool. But now Kain pointed out the flaw of Mortanius' logic, if the land was to be reborn, he must die… Mortanius used the same manuever he used against Hash in their fight, raising the dead to fight Kain, but sonn, Mortanius was overwhelmed and the Ethros demon broke free. "You have served me well Kain," Hash started to explain why he would not attack the vampire, but not before the insolent bastard defied him, screaming "I serve no one!" Kain grabbed the hilt of his blade and slowly took it out of sheath, and in what seemed like an attempt at intimidation, he readied. He then attacked like a Lupine beast, and in his own right, so did the demon. After a battle that lasted at least two hours, the Unspoken was struck down by the soul reaver, the weapon which had so long ago, been made of the solidified blood of his brethren. As he watched his manifest form melt into nothingness, he re-entered the realm that he was so accustomed to being trapped in... |
