Author’s notes: This story has little connections with the main Legacy Of Kain storyline. The main character is my creation while the other characters belong to Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Interactive.
| Years passed since Vorador destroyed the Circle of Nine to avenge the
vampires or perhaps only the death of his maker. Since then he has been
wandering around Nosgoth to find the Savior. Vorador was ignorant of this
creature’s appearance but he knew that he is the bearer of the Reaver.
But his quest for this unique individual was in vain, and Vorador's hope
began to fade.
One day, when he was returning to his home, the Termogent forest, the Pillars caught his sight. All of them were restored "So the new Guardians are born and perhaps they are already known…" Vorador spoke to himself "but what's the point, they will be no better than the ones I…" at that moment he saw a silhouette landing in the clearing. Before he transported himself to the site, he ordered a few of his bird-spies, to go and observe. The birds appeared behind the creature and saw his blue skin, white cloak, long dark hair and black angelic wings. Vorador transported himself to the Pillars to see this creature with his own eyes. Apparently it sensed his presence and slowly turned to face him. "Greetings, Vorador" he said calmly, while Vorador looked at him with doubts: "It is not often I am greeted by someone who knows me, while I don't know him. What should I make of you, stranger, “and slowly approaching him” clearly an Ancient but not the one I knew, standing here at the Pillars the way you should be… but without the Reaver. So tell me, are you who I believe you are, or not?" "No, I am not the one." This clear answer assured Vorador that his strange friend was not ignorant of the old prophecies. In that moment, several Sarafan warriors entered the clearing and when they saw the vampires one of them shouted "He lives!!" while another one said "You will regret approaching this sacred ground, Vampires. These Pillars do not stand for your vile race!" These words aroused Vorador's anger while the winged vampire simply whispered "On the contrary" and by running towards one of the Sarafan he ripped his head from his body, and by hitting another one with his wing, smashed his bones. Vorador shattered his opponents with his spells and soon both of the vampires were drinking the blood of their dead enemies. "You do not fight like an Ancient and yet you look like one, so why do you not spare of this ignorance and reveal yourself to me?" "With pleasure… I am Tillyum" the vampire answered "And I walk the land as a Vampire for more than a millenium, nothing compared to your age however." "Indeed" Vorador spoke "But tell me more about you." Tillyum hesitated at first and then asked "This is a long story are certain you want to hear it?" and Vorador answered with great certainty "Yes". Raising his head to look at the Pillars, Tillyum began: "My tragedy began when I was still human. I lived in Abernus with my father who always made it clear that he is against the Sarafan and their Vampire purge. I was very young but I knew such actions will bring him his demise…and that's what happened. One day, while I was walking around the city streets, a Sarafan came to me and said: "Dear child, it is with a heavy heart that I tell you that your loving father is no longer among the living" I do not recall the rest of his words, but I know they pierced me. I fell on the ground and I when asked him how he died, he told me that he was attacked by vampires and the Sarafan were too late to save him. His voice was very convincing, but I was sure that he was lying. The more years passed, the less I was treated like a human. I believe that is because the Mind Guardian knew for sure how much I despised the Circle and he was the only one who could turn my friends into enemies so quickly. Soon I was forced to leave Abernus and I wandered around Nosgoth for weeks until I was deranged enough to consider taking away my own life…" Vorador's face changed. "I know what you're thinking" Tillyum said to him "I know the torment you received is nothing compared to mine, but to me that was torment. Now if I may proceed… One night I came upon a graveyard made by the Sarafan if you know what I mean, and I found a piece of a stake. I raised it in order to stab myself and I felt someone's hand over mine. "Death is never a solution, believe me I know." In that moment I turned to see who said that and I saw his face. It was the Necromancer Mortanius. He may look like a demon but his soul is greater than the soul of any other human I’ve known. He took care of me for several weeks until I recovered from both my wounds and my madness. He told me that I will find a new life if I travel north and did so. I began my travel, and soon I reached Uschtenheim, where the legends of the terrifying Janos Audron ruled. I knew very little of the winged Vampire that terrorized this village mercilessly, but it seemed that the residents feared him much. The symbol of the Circle of Nine was carved on every door and was worn by every one for protection. I began thinking why Mortanius wanted me to come here, or was Uschtenheim "north". However I decided to rest before I do anything else. I went to the inn for a meal where I overheard a few stories about Janos Audron. From the stories, I imagined a fiend with red flashing eyes and demonic wings which sounded a little too much, however I did not waste much time and proceeded north towards the mountains. Soon I reached a small lake that was filled with ruined stairways and after I took a look at the aerie I figured that these stairs were made by someone who wanted to reach the balcony. I used one of these stairs to climb out of the pit and into the mountain. Not so long afterwards a storm began, making me unable to see anything and as I wondered around I fell. The fall did not injure me and I found myself on a bridge connecting to towers high above the ground, and standing in front of me was Janos. Just the sight of him terrified me, in panic I began walking backwards away from him when I tripped and hit my head. Once I regained conscience, I found myself in another chamber laying on some sort of a table and again I saw him, standing in front of me and just looking. This time I saw him far more clearly then before and I found nothing monstrous in his appearance. When he approached I thought he was closing in for the kill, but instead he spoke to me ”You are the first human to step foot in here. Fear not, I will not kill you.” My fear began to fade quickly, and soon he and I became friendly.” At this Vorador spoke ”That sounds like Janos. Tell me what followed this friendship of yours?” and Tillyum spoke “I learned much of the ancient history, about the curse, the Reaver and the Pillars and realized how foolish the humans are. Over time my desire to sear my past with flames grew and Janos offered me a way to accomplish that-to turn me into a Vampire. I accepted willingly, then Janos opened a chest that I never noticed before and from it he took out the Reaver, I was fascinated by it… Strange that I cannot remember much of the ritual but what I remember clearly is when he called upon the Reaver’s power. Then a strange feeling overwhelmed me and when I recovered, I beheld myself and realized that I am no longer human. That was when I became a Vampire.” “But why did you become like an Ancient?” Vorador asked. And Tillyum answered” Perhaps because I was alive… and the Reaver.” Night came and with it the horn of the Sarafan. ”Ah yes. Now the Necromancer, Moebius and their damned puppet Malek are coming here to wait for the new guardians” Vorador said “perhaps we should leave, come.” And the two of them left the Pillars and transported themselves to the safety of the Termogent forest, where Tillyum finished his story:”For 300 years I stayed at the retreat, sustained by the Reaver’s energy and thus I knew the truth-Janos never brought any terror to humanity. And after those 300 years, my wings grew. To me this was a sing that now I must leave, and so I said goodbye to Janos and I promised to return. I spent a millenium living far to the north-west where no human has ever stepped foot and I descended only to feed and only in the darkest of nights when no one could see me. In that way I lived in peace and without drawing attention. Then one day I felt that I must go and see Janos. I did so at once… but I was too late. The retreat lay in ruin, and after I made my way in, I found his body. The chest in which the Reaver was kept was empty and close by I found the helmet of a Sarafan priest while all I could do for Janos was to close his dead eyes. In that moment I was pierced by the fact that both of my fathers were murdered by the same fanatics and I could not bear it. Armed only with my claws, I flew to the Sarafan stronghold for vengeance. I reached the fortress soon and while I was looking for an entrance, I heard a terrible scream coming from the inside. I hoped that the one responsible for Janos’ death is in that agony. A balcony on the other side of the gate provided me with entrance and in the first room I entered I found the body a priest that appeared to be of a high title, probably first in command after Malek. I noticed that his blood was fully drained from him and I knew he was killed by the Reaver, which gave me some hope that the Reaver may be in good hands. I moved on and reached the chapel where a few Sarafan were busy taking care of another corpse. Then I saw Moebius staring at me and I rushed toward him, while he simply used the powers of that odd staff he had to drain my energy. I fell down on the ground unable to move. Moebius looked at me and before leaving me to the Sarafan he said, ”Can you be sure when your destiny is coming for you?” As the few Sarafan were approaching to kill me, I felt as if my presence in reality is fading. That sensation turned out to be magic that transported me away from the stronghold and into the safety of a place unknown to me. Standing before me was Mortanius, again the savior of my life. Somehow he knew my questions and answered them” Do not worry, the Reaver is in the hands of the Savior and he knows what to do. As you must have noticed the assassins you were looking for are all dead as for Janos he will not be among the dead forever.” Then he left me. Since that day I am searching for the Savior.” “Any fortune?” Vorador asked him “No. But his task is not done yet, that means one day he will come to the Pillars and I will be there to greet him. I am sure he has the answer to the enigma Mortanius left me with.” “Your story is indeed impressive,” Vorador said “…There is something I want you to know. Before I slaughtered the Circle I still had hope that they can be enlightened. So I went to the retreat myself to ask Janos to take the Reaver and come with me, but when I saw him dead and the Reaver stolen, my hope collapsed, and so I enlightened the Circle with the pain of Death.” He paused for awhile and said to Tillyum “now we have to tread our own paths.” giving him a signet ring” This ring will summon me if you ever help, use it if…or should I say when you meet the Savior. Come to me in my mansion some day if you wish.” And before he left ”so long…brother” THE END |
