The New Beginning
|
I stood alone at the base of the ruined pillars and marveled at what had once been our safe guard against the enemy. I had fought for so long to hold them together yet here I stood at the ruins of the pillars. “Kain you seem to be concerned,” a familiar voice rose from the ancient blade in the seethe on my back “fate is cruel,” “I believe no one understands that better then you, Raziel.” My ally in the battle had been incased in the soul reaver yet now he maintained the power of his free will. “I must admit that I felt an attachment to these pillars, I am sad to see them like this.” “Kain above us the dark one!” I was quick to draw the reaver as I search the skies for the enemy the villain I once thought vanquished. In the sky he stayed unmoved by the reaver; the creature was not frightened by me though I had bested him once. I was still drained after the battle with the elder god and could feel the exhaustion over taking me. “Kain I do not wish to fight,” a kind voice came from the possessed Janos Audron, the voice of the last it was the voice of Janos. I had only briefly known of the mighty vampire and respected him profoundly. “I have come to give you this,” the ancient hands contained a parchment which seemed for older then himself. “Take this for the Hylden wish to obtain the abilities within this, our most powerful secret. The gift to Nosgoth from our race the promise of strength through peace.” He was speaking in a broken form not like the Janos I had known, “I must assume that you have fallen in to the hands of the enemy” “I must leave now Kain, for the enemy inside of me searches to overcome me, seek out Vorador, for he holds the knowledge you will need. You will find him in his manor.” With that Janos vanished into the blue energy of his teleportation spell. AS the man’s corrupted body left I discovered a blue feather. And I understood the urgency of the encounter. He was dying, not his body but Janos was dying inside a desperate attempt to stop the enemy. “We have to hurry Kain; I could feel Janos’s life failing the man inside him is being overcome.” Raziel’s voice thundered in my head and I knew that he was right I had to get this to Vorador. Then the knowledge in the still closed parchment could be fully utilized. My bat form would allow me to arrive in enough time to confront the vampire; the death of Mobieus signified the alteration of the history surrounding the vampire’s death. But I knew where he was he was not at the manor. He was in the square waiting to be executed, Mobieus was to busy pawing for his god’s attention that he himself neglected to wipe out Vorador, at least I had hoped that was the case. The scene was all too familiar in the town. This was undoubtedly the moment in time in which Vorador would fall. As I had hoped he’d left the peons of his militia to watch for the downfall of Vorador. I had not feed in sometime and the people of the town had wanted to imagine that the vampires were monsters so I would grant them their happy little illusion and feast on them. As the renewed man I must retain some dignity and spare the innocent. Vorador’s face showed signs of joy something that the old vampire had not shown in the time that I had known him. He watched me a first and noticed the ring he’d given me in my youth and understood what was happening. The power of Raziel inside the reaver had made it stronger then ever before. He was a magnificent weapon. The hunger suppressed and the enemy dispatched I freed Vorador and smiled as he uttered my name in shock, “Kain how….” “Now is not the time we must make it to your manor can you muster the strength?” I had no time to waste on ideal conversation, and neither had Janos. Teleportation was one of Vorador’s dark gifts that he’d been given by Janos and had to be thankful for. As we entered the former tomb of Janos I informed Vorador of the events as I could best place them for I myself was lacking vital information of the full scale of events. “The pillars are gone?” “Yes and as far as I can tell Janos is possessed by the Hylden. But he maintained enough strength to give me the manuscript to our futures.” Vodador’s eyes glowed brightly as he read the script. His mind couldn’t fathom for a moment the gift until the end. His face twisted into a grin. “The spell of the pillars?” he asked as he watched my expression. “We shall rebuild them in honor of the conflict.” “I am a black smith I can not build structures such as the pillars. No one can.” “I wish for them not to be pillars but to be weapons. We are in a war Vorador and we need the new circle to be soldiers not simply wizards.” |
