The Return

I watched as Kain walked through the doors from the hylden gate.  Behind him the large structure blew into a firey hell of debris and ash.

"Ah it seems the Sarafan Lord fell at your hands."  I said to the approaching vampire.  He held the Soul Reaver and at that moment he knew Nosgoth would be corrupt for all time.  But at least it was being ruled by a vampire.  "What has become of Janos?"

"The Sarafan Lord destroyed him, I could not help him."

"Just as you couldn't help Umah!"

"Please Vorador, you are in no condition to raise your tone to me."

Anger rose through my eyes but he was right.  I would need time to heal from the Lord's blast.  We walked toward the docks of the Hylden City.  Corpses were scattered along the pathways of the choking Hylden.  There life
force seemed torn from the filthy souls.

The boat ride back to Meridian was short.  With only Kain company I kept to myself thinking of Janos and Umah.

"Now that we are free of the Sarafan Lord, you may go back to your normal life."  Kain said to me.  "I will call to you if I am in need of your services."

I nodded and started for Sanctuary.  And there my remaining luetinents waited for my return.  "You are now free.  Go about your lives while you still have them.  The time given to you may be short."

"Sir, what of Kain, Janos, and Umah?"  a young vampire yelled from the back.

"It is sad to say that Umah and Janos were killed.  Janos by the hands of the Sarafan Lord, and Umah by the hands of....Sarafan guards."  I said, knowing my explanation was a lie about Umah.  But if I were to tell them the
truth, the would try to destroy Kain.  They would fight bravely but they would fall.  He has the Soul Reaver and nothing can stop him.  "Like I said before.  Go on with your lives.  Feast upon the Sarafan for they shall be destroyed."

And like that they departed into the night like a pack of wild dogs.  I started out of Sanctuary and started for a nearby carage that would take me home.  I had passed the Pillars of Nosgoth on the way.  Stepping onto the platform and looked over each one.  Touching the Pillar of Time with one claw time had seemed to stop.  All around objects lay still.

"Ah, Vorador.  It seems that Kain brought you back from the dead.  Only to destroy you later.  You are now his pawn for the time being."

The voice spoke on talking about how Kain shall raise Sarafan Lords from the past.  Raziel, Rahab, Zephon, Melchiah, Dumah the lords of the damned raised as Vampires.  "But how?  Kain does not know the process to create
Vampires.  The knowledge is only held by me."

"You shall be the one to tell him."  Finally Vorador saw him.  Moebius, Guardian of the Pillar of Time.  And the man who killed me.  His ghost stood in front of me the entire time.

"I need not listen to you!"  I yelled and turned toward the carage.  Everything turned back to it's present state as I started back towards my home.  I arrived at the swamp and placed the horses in the stables that lie behind the castle.  Webbing and dust lay everywhere inside.  I walked through checking the rooms for any intruders.  Two hundred years away from home and not even a candle moved from its position.  Stepping into my dining room and started for the fireplace.  Pulling a candle the wall behind rose from its position revealing the blood fountain that still lay untouched
since the last time he drank from it.  The wall fell back into place and I walked toward a my seat, my throne upon the world of Nosgoth.  The land that was destined to be doomed for all eternity.  Kain came to his mind.  Whisper
was very useful now that he learned of its abilities.

"Vorador,  I require your assistance one last time."
