Of all the Clans in Nosgoth Raziel’s was the most favored, he had every honor Lord Kain could bestow upon him. I am Gorath, Raziel's first born Lieutenant I had stood with him through the long troublesome war against the Sarafan and I was the only Lieutenant ready to take control of the Clan after my Master's execution. I am now the last of the Razielim I have hunted for centuries for traces of other survivors of my clan, but it seems that my Master's “Father” has succeeded in destroying all of my clan but me. That Bastard, he killed my master out of jealous Rage, and then when all the other Lieutenants gained new evolutions he did not kill them, but instead honored them as he should have honored my master. Centuries ago I went hunting for a human to quench my bloodlust, it was while I was away that my master was cast into the abyss like a common traitor and my clan was decimated. I am almost as powerful as my master once was. I have a cult of Vampire priests who serve me without question, and I have a safe place away from all other Vampires who would kill me. For I carry the honor my master had. I too possess wings. Two days ago I came across two Vampire worshipers and just as I was about to drink from one, my master Raziel appeared. He was destroyed. His flesh dissolved away, his body a mess, his prized new wings all destroyed, but I still recognized him. He was still my master, and I was still his servant. I was shocked by his sudden reappearance after Five hundred years. I was amazed at how changed he was. Gone was his lower jaw. He hid it well under his cloak which still had our clan’s symbol upon it. Then I saw what he was doing. He was chasing some of the Dumahim,
and he killed them. What followed next I was not prepared for.
He devoured not their blood, but their very souls. Disregarding the
danger, I foolishly called out to my lord, and when he turned to me he
was about to attack, until I told him who I was. He looked
hard at me. And then, as if coming out of a trance, he embraced me
and asked if there where other survivors aside from myself.
He stopped and looked hard at me, and asked if my wings were capable of flying. (As Raziel's first lieutenant I had been the first to grow wings after him.) I told him I could and how they had saved me from the Melchiahim many a time. Raziel was pleased with me, but told me that though our paths had crossed once again, he had to leave me once more, and that he would return. I begged him to try to find me another member of our clan still living, for all the other clans had begun to mutate into horrible and disgusting creatures that were an insult to the proud ancestry of the Vampire Nation. Raziel told me that our clan was to be spared that fate because of some magical trait possessed only by us. Whilst the rest of Nosgoth’s Vampire’s would decay, we would remain as we had always been. Now I understood why our clan had been decimated. But one vital question still remained why was my master back in Nosgoth after several centuries away. Why had he returned? He told me that he had dissolved in burning agony for most of his absence and had been resurrected by a being known only as the Elder, who had brought him back to destroy the Vampires of Nosgoth. Then suddenly I was afraid for I feared that he would destroy me and continue his mission for the god he now served. It was then that he revealed that he was not going to destroy me, but save me from centuries of longing for others of my kind. He was going to intervene on my behalf to the Elder God, that I become his apprentice and that together we might be able to save Nosgoth from the evil Kain had done to it. I stood at attention while my master stabbed a wooden stake through my heart, and forced my soul from my body. I became aware that I no longer felt as I had, encased in the flesh. And I found the more time I spent in the “spirit” realm, the more powerful I felt. Raziel and I slowly descended into the Elder god’s lair. On the way, we discussed much: the past, the ways of the clans, and then I asked him if he knew why each moment I was in the spectral realm I felt stronger. He then explained how if I were to return to my body, I would now be stronger because my Vampiric Soul had been absorbing spiritual matter and now I was stronger than many of the ancient Vampires alive in Nosgoth. We finally reached the Elder, and Raziel pleaded his case before the god, and the god replied, “Raziel I rescued you from the abyss because I found you worthy to destroy Kain and your brothers for the pain they had caused you. And I sensed more. I sensed a worthy soul inside of you. This Vampire, here, has almost the same qualities I require in a servant. Bring him to me. I knelt before the Elder god and he questioned me. Elder: Who are you?
Raziel and I rose, and suddenly I felt a change. I looked down at myself and saw that I had become thinner, and more muscular. My fangs had grown and my wings became even stronger than they had been before. Finally my mind “Changed” I suddenly had knowledge of lore which I had not known instants before. I knelt, and Raziel spoke to me. Raziel: Gorath, first of my lieutenants, in unlife, and now beyond the
reach of death, will you aid me in my quest to destroy Kain?
We trained for days--weeks--who could tell in the spectral realm. Time passes differently to the material world. I learned skills I could never have imagined before my “Ascension”. I learned that blood was no longer what I craved for; I now needed to consume the souls of the Vampires and of the Humans of Nosgoth, so that their full destinies could be experienced. After months of preparation Raziel and I set out to destroy our Nemesis, Kain, and to prove ourselves servants to the Elder God. Now I must go, Kain’s death and my destiny awaits. Raziel and I will avenge the crimes that that monster did to our clan and we shall bring honor to the Elder. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
