I never thought I would meet someone like her. Everything about her
was perfect. The way her hair moved when the wind blew. The way she talked.
The way she moved. The way she disemboweled her victims. She was a Werewolf,
a beauty of her kind. I thought they did not exist, but now I know that
they exist, and they are about as terrible as vampire, but they are quicker,
stronger, and more lethal than any vampire. Here is my story with the encounter
with them.
I had just come from feeding, so I was tired
and my guard was down. I was walking in a remote part of a forest, when
a movement caught my eye. I quickly turned; ready to fight any puny
mortal that tried to have their revenge on me. Another quick movement,
then another. I started to get the feeling that I was surrounded, but yet
another quick movement made me forget that idea, it was probably just a
few animals seeing what I was. I laughed at my jumpiness, and continued
on. But the feeling that I was being followed was unshakable.
Then, suddenly, I was struck down from behind,
and I was angry with myself for not following my own instincts. I quickly
turned to face my attacker, but they were not there. I was confused, I
looked to see if I had tripped, but the path was smooth. Then, I was hit
in the back again, sending me sprawling, and eating dirt. I was tired of
this game already.
I unsheathed my sword, and opened my mind
to help find my enemy. I found the things mind, and was more confused than
ever, for this mind was that of an animal, not a man or anything like that.
The creature was moving fast, really fast toward my back again. I readied
for another attack, and just at the right moment, I plunged my sword behind
me, into the creature’s stomach. An eerie howl emitted behind me, and I
turned, to see a wolf, that was standing on its hind feet by itself. It
had a weird symbol on its arm, like my clan symbol. This creature was clearly
a female, and as my sword came out of its stomach, she staggered a bit,
and fell over, hurt, but not dead. I examined the blood from the creature.
It was black, and it felt as if the blood had a dark energy to it. I turned
to the creature, still lying there, when she spoke.
“Go ahead. Kill me.” She said.
At first, I was surprised, then I knelt down
toward the creature (but far away from her vicious looking teeth). She
snarled, but when I sheathed my sword, she stopped. I got a closer look
at her now. She was truly beautiful. She had a raven black pelt, and she
had midnight blue eyes. Where a regular human’s hair would be, her fur
was longer, but
still the same color. Her claws looked razor sharp, and so did her
teeth. Her arm had a strange symbol on it. I then looked at her wound.
She was bleeding very badly, and she looked like she would pass out any
moment. I grabbed her paw, and held it to her wound.
“Keep pressure on the wound. Do you know if
there is any bleeding hearts around here?” I said.
She looked at me as though I had lost my mind,
then knew what I was talking about, and pointed toward a patch of bleeding
hearts. I quickly grabbed them, then shoved them in her mouth. I wasn’t
a very good doctor, but I knew that the bleeding heart plant was a great
painkiller. Now the question was, how do I get her out of here? She
looked way to heavy to carry back to my territory, and I doubt if she could
walk with that wound of hers. So I looked for anything that she could lay
on while I pulled her. I quickly found a large branch that was fresh and
sturdy enough to drag her. I grabbed it and went back to her. The bleeding
hearts were taking affect, and now she was dozing off. I got her onto
the branch and readied myself for a long night.
Chapter 2
Zhaneel

It was almost dawn, and the load I was carrying
was getting really heavy. She was now asleep, and the bleeding had stopped.
Only two more miles, I pushed myself, just two more miles. I can do this!
My bones were weary and my muscles were burning, my back ached and my head
throbbed. When my vision started to turn red, I knew I pushed
myself to far, but I had to get to my territory. My children would
still be awake, but I had no way of contacting them without leaving the
she-wolf behind. I thought it would be best if I could get to my children
somehow, so I left her and ran as fast as I could to my territory. There,
my children happily greeted me. I pushed them away and told them the problem.
They quickly got together the strongest of my clan, and we went back to
the she-wolf.
We found her, still on the branch, sleeping.
My children looked at her with awe and wonder. They finally snapped out
of it and proceeded to help me move her. It was a lot easier than just
me, and we soon reached the territory. We brought her to a private chamber
that was restricted to everyone except me. We hoisted her on the bed and
before everyone left, I told them to tell everyone that Kain was not to
know about the presence of this creature. They left, and then I had a new
problem, what was she? But there was also one other problem. It was almost
dawn, and I was growing tired… My eyelids grew heavy… My muscles relaxed…I
could not stay awake… I fell where I stood.
I awoke in the night. I was in a comfortable bed, with satin sheets
wrapped around me. I did not want to open my eyes, but then the thought
of the she-wolf and her wound made my eyes snap open. I sat up and looked
around the room, which was lit with small lanterns. I saw her looking out
of the window that was usually sealed (she opened it). I rose silently.
Her back was turned toward me.
“I know you’re there, Raziel.” She said.
“How did you….?”
“You’re not the only one who can read minds,
vampire.”
She turned toward me. Her wound looked hideous,
it looked like it was infected.
“Your wound, it looks bad, you should get
that checked out.” I remarked.
“Actually, my wound looks perfectly normal
for a Werewolf.” She responded.
So that’s what she was! A Werewolf! I have
heard of them, but only in stories and in the murals of the church of the
humans. I thought they were extinct.
“No vampire, we never went extinct, we only
went into hiding.” She said.
I walked up to her; she was taller than me
by a foot. Her fur shined in the moonlight.
“Why did you attack me?” I asked.
“I thought you were a mortal, and mortals
are restricted from that part of the woods under penalty of their death.”
She replied.
“Well, that’s one way to keep the humans afraid
of something they think is dead. So, my lady, what is your name?” I asked.
“I am Zhaneel, daughter of the great Lucifer
of the tribe Get Of Fenris, healer of my tribe.”
Over the past three weeks, we learned much
about each other. She stayed with me while her wound healed, and we would
talk until dawn about our kind. I was enthralled by Zhaneel, and I was
interested in everything she said about her tribe. Then came the night
which she had to leave and return to her tribe.
I was saddened by her leave, but she said
she had to unless vampires wanted a war on their hands. I gave her a necklace
that had my clan symbol on it, and she turned and kissed me, before running
off into the woods. I touched my cheek, totally dumbfounded by that sudden
kiss. I looked into the direction that Zhaneel had left, and went back
into my chambers with a heavy heart.
Chapter 3
The Attack

Zhaneel ran fast through the woods. She could
run through this place with her eyes closed. Her tribe would be worried
about her, and her father would be angry with her, but he wouldn’t hurt
her. The kiss she gave Raziel caught him by surprise, and had a funny look
on his face as he touched his cheek. She wanted to laugh, but when she
was in the woods, she was trained to not laugh. She jumped over a fallen
log, and went through a small ravine. She was almost home, and her mood
grew happier.
She looked in horror as she found her whole
tribe missing. She couldn’t believe it. She looked everywhere, trying to
find any marks of a fight or a hurried move, but she didn’t even find a
paw print. She became frantic and was desperate to find her father and
thought of him dying without seeing his daughter for one last time. She
howled in grief and
in pain.
Raziel heard the howl from inside, and opened
his chamber door… to find a very angry werewolf male standing there. His
eyes grew wide and tried to unsheathe his sword, but the werewolf grabbed
him by his neck and lifted him by his neck. Raziel couldn’t breathe and
the werewolf was tightening his grip every second. The Werewolf had a dark
brown coat and had the same symbol on his arm as Zhaneel did. He had a
long scar on his arm, as though he was in a battle with his own kind.
The werewolf narrowed his glare and slammed
Raziel into the door, then threw him into the wall on the other side of
his chambers. Raziel couldn’t move, his back was broken, but he tried to
crawl away as the Werewolf jumped over the coffin in the middle of the
room. He tried to summon a bit of magic, but he couldn’t concentrate as
the Werewolf came
closer to him. He thought that the only way to live through this was
to summon Kain or one of his brothers. For the first time in his whole
immortal life, Raziel felt fear, real, heart-pounding fear. His breathing
became faster as he tried to contact Kain.
“You’re not going to summon your master, vampire.”
Replied the Werewolf.
He stopped short of Raziel, and leaned down
toward him until their noses almost touched.
“You kidnapped my daughter. I demand to know
where she is.” He declared.
“Z-z-z-han-n-eel? She left this very night.
And I didn’t kidnap her, Lucifer, I brought her back to my sanctuary because
I thought she would die if I left her out there.” He stammered.
The Werewolf once again took hold of Raziel’s
neck, and dragged him out to the courtyard of his home, where a dozen more
Werewolves stood there, with his whole clan standing in a row, with their
hands tied behind their backs. Raziel’s eyes widened, He really wants his
daughter back, and he’s going to kill my clan until he gets her back.
“Now, we can do this the easy way, or the
hard way, Raziel. Tell where my daughter is, and I let your clan go, unharmed,
but, if you do not, I will kill them, one at a time, until I get an answer
from you.” Lucifer replied coldly.
Raziel stepped boldly in front of the Werewolf Lord.
“This fight is just between you and me, do
not bring the innocent into this!” He nearly bellowed.
But, instead of believing Raziel, Lucifer
just backhanded him into a wall, making it collapse onto the vampire lieutenant.
Many of the clan wanted to fight back, or dig their father out of the rubble,
but the other Werewolves held them back. Lucifer smirked as the dust settled,
and went over to the pile of rubble, and pulled the mangled form of Raziel
out by the neck. Raziel had lost consciousness, and stayed limp in the
Werewolf’s powerful grip.
Miles away, Zhaneel felt the pain of Raziel,
and turned her head toward the direction of the vampire sanctuary. No,
it can’t be, she thought, Father wouldn’t, would he? She ran as fast as
her legs could carry her out of the woods.
Lucifer growled maliciously as he beheaded
a fledgling. Raziel was still knocked out, but maybe a fledgling knew where
Zhaneel was. He pulled another fledgling in front of him, a female who
was shaking, but she stared him coldly in the eye. Lucifer grew angry at
her defiance, and sliced her head off with a quick movement of his claws.
Zhaneel felt the Razielim clan’s pain, for
their father, and for their fallen comrades. She was almost there, but
she was becoming winded, and couldn’t breathe. She stopped until she felt
the pain of the clan again, and then took off with a renewed strength.
Lucifer was growing tired of this game. The
fledglings didn’t cry when they died, nor did the others cry for the death
of their comrades. Raziel lay in a heap in the corner of the courtyard
(Lucifer threw him again), and didn’t move. All of his children had feared
the worst, that their father was dead.
Zhaneel, finally in the sanctuary, tried to
find her father and the other clan members, but the courtyard was on the
other side of the sanctuary. She gave her familiar howl, which could be
heard a mile away.
Lucifer was about to kill another fledgling,
when he heard Zhaneel’s howl. She was not far away, in fact, she was outside.
He dropped the fledgling, which scrambled over to his father, and raced
through the building. On the other side of the building, Zhaneel raced
through the building. She turned to the left, then took a sharp right,
becoming confused with the turns in this corridor. She heard her father’s
howl, and then knew where exactly to go.
Zhaneel and Lucifer found each other in the
corridor, and quickly hugged each other. Lucifer was overwhelmed to see
his daughter, but he then realized that he had made a big mistake. Raziel
was telling the truth, but I was too enraged by the disappearance of my
daughter that my mind was clouded, Lucifer thought.
Zhaneel read his mind. “What happened to Raziel?”
She asked.
Lucifer looked at her with sadness in his
eyes. He slowly led his daughter to the courtyard where he killed those
vampires, and where Raziel lay.
Zhaneel gasped as she saw the vampires, tied
up and shaking from fear.
There was a lone vampire, sitting next to
a ….Oh my god, Zhaneel thought, “RAZIEL!”
She ran toward the heap of vampire that not
even a day ago, was well.
She bent down, and the fledgling scrambled
away. She carefully picked up the lifeless vampire lieutenant and carried
him into a room. She quickly ordered for some heated water and the release
of the vampires.
One vampire came in, and looked what she was
doing.
“You can’t do that!” She shrieked, making
Zhaneel,” Vampires can’t stand the water. We burn!”
“Thank you for the information, you just saved
your Master from a very painful death.” She smiled as the vampire went
red and left.
Raziel awoke with the soft midnight blue eyes
of Zhaneel. He felt like a rag doll, then he remembered. Her father had
nearly killed him the other night.
Zhaneel gently lifted Raziel into a sitting
position. She held in her hand a goblet of blood and (unknown to Raziel)
a few healing herbs.
“Drink this.” Zhaneel said.
“What is it?” Raziel asked.
“The blood of a Werewolf. It has rejuvenating
affects. Please drink.”
Raziel took a drink. The blood tasted like
nothing he had ever had. It tasted sweeter, more replenishing. Before he
knew it, the cup was empty, but already he had felt stronger, more powerful.
He stood, and with Zhaneel by his side, he walked out into the full moon.
His clan was overjoyed to see their father
well again. Raziel felt the pain of some of his fledglings and he knew
that some were dead. Lucifer came toward Raziel. Raziel felt fear, and
his breathing became quicker, but when Zhaneel looked at him with her soft
eyes, he forced himself to calm down. Lucifer towered over Raziel as did
Zhaneel, but the way the Werewolf Lord stood, reminded Raziel of Kain,
a proud stance, one that demanded respect.
Lucifer looked down at Raziel, and to Raziel’s surprise, he bowed in
front of the lieutenant.
“I beg for thy forgiveness, Raziel. I have
made a grave mistake. My mind was clouded with rage that I did not care
what anyone said. You see, vampires have been nothing but a nuisance to
me ever since I met one, your Lord Kain in fact. But I have killed many
of your fledglings, and I know I can never be forgiven for the crime I
have committed.” Lucifer bowed his head.
“Lucifer, Werewolf Lord, stand before me.”
Raziel whispered.
Lucifer stood.
“Many of my fledglings were killed in the
midst of your rage, but I would have done the same, if my daughter had
gone missing as well.”
Raziel touched Lucifer’s shoulder. “I hereby
declare you forgiven.”
