It was barely after two in the morning. Moebius was pacing up the halls of the Saraphan stronghold's chapels, the old ones. “Blasted vampires! Making me and the lord, who so graciously cares for us, worry till the point of no respite!”
The old priest and guardian of the time pillar felt as though he had the right to a nights rest. Kain couldn't of come back so far in time to destroy it, could he? Did he perhaps know of this blessing?
He looked and listened between the pews. Nothing. Not even a hint of life.
“Master?...”
Moebius turned around, it was a little boy about the age of three, with chocolate-brown curls and peach colored skin, all in a night shirt. “Malek!” he exclaimed. “You're supposed to be in bed with your brothers! Why are you-” Moebius thought, and then sighed, “Where are your brothers?”
“Uh...Um...” tears began to fill his eyes. “They told me if I didn't come with them I had to sleep alone in the dark! Turel was already gone so he couldn't light a candle for meeeeee!!!”
Again with the guilty crying...
Moebius sighed, he could always depend on Malek's honesty to expose what most of his brothers were up to. “All right, Turel, Dumah, Raziel, Rahab, Melchiah, and Zephon, your just making it harder on yourselves. You are already in trouble.”
There was a moan, and all of the children (and one adult who, by the way was Melchiah) stepped out looking guilty.
“Who was it this time?”
All of the boys except for Malek stared at Zephon.
“What!? I was going to come right back I swear!” Zephon had short straight black hair, he was six.
“Was there a spider that you wanted to release?”
“No sir, an egg sack... They're gonna be hatchlings soon so I...”
“Told you brothers and snuck off?”
Zephon lowered his head and twiddled his fingers “Y-yes, sir...”
Dumah went to his brother's side, “Hey, it's OK, Mal...”
Dumah had short, fuzzy pink hair. It would grow redder as he got older, he was also six.
Rahab looked angry for a moment at Raziel. “See, your 'Tactic' didn't work, brother,” He seethed.
“Oh, like you could do better!” Raziel retorted.
Out of all of the children in the group, Raziel and Rahab could of actually been biological brothers. They had a deep brown hair color, Raziel's was wavy and he kept it shoulder length, while Rahab, had strait hair and grew it out longer. They would both have slender faces when they grew older. They were the same height, same weight, same age (7), and they argued like natural siblings did...
Turel was 17 years old and looked a lot like Rahab but was more obedient and well-behaved. Melchiah (Mel-key-a) was 22, married, and didn't like little children so much, so unless training, you had to look for him in the library.
“And you two!” Moebius pointed to Raziel and Rahab. “STOP ARGUEING FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST!!!” Moebius proceeded with a small prayer of “sorry-for-cussing” and looked at them, “What are you doing here anyway?”
“We wanted to see where he was going to put the eggs,” Raziel responded.
“Well, he did, anyway,” Rahab scoffed.
Moebius sighed. “Turel?”
“I wanted to make sure everything went all right.”
Moebius slapped his forehead, and slid it down his face, and sighed again. “ Melchiah?”
“Ella and I heard a noise and I found them.”
“So you hid with them...”
“Well, we saw you so we wondered what you were up to...”
“And then you followed me.”
“Yes sir.” Melchiah paused and then looked at him “So, why are you here in the old Chapels?”
Moebius was hoping they wouldn't ask, then again... “If you really want to know than you can help me look for it! It's a baby. I received it today, and I think it doesn't like me much...”
“Why is the baby so important?” Malek asked with slightly wet eye-lids. “Is it our new brother?”
“No. First off, it's a girl. Second, it's my grand-daughter.”
Turel stared at him, “You had kids?”
Moebius had to make the story believable. He smiled, “I was a quite popular with all of the maidens at the peak of my age... I became a priest after my wife died and my child was on it's own. You see, it happened like this I was at-”
“Uh, Master, we don't need the details! Please!” Melchiah said as he began to look in the pews.
A moment later Zephon yelled; “Hello, whats this?...”
Moebius ran over as fast as he could (which was pretty fast for a man about a century old with Athrituss)
“Let me see!” He said in a single breath. He took the baby from Zephon and examined it. “Yes we found it! Thank you lord!”
“Uh, lord Moebius...” Malek said as he tugged at Moebius's robes.
“Malek, can't you see I am reveling in the moment?”
“But mi'lord! Her bottom is soaked!”
Moebius looked at Malek, and then turned the baby around, then sighed once more. “I need to send her to a nunnery...”
Everybody stared at him. “But why?” Raziel asked.
“Her family was recently killed by vampires, you see. It's amazing we found her unscathed... We need her to be safe.”
“What is her name?”Raziel asked.
“That is the nunnery's job. Now, off to bed with you! You aren't in trouble anymore.”
The seven brothers went to bed, and soon forgot about the strange baby.
