No longer the guardian

Kain paced about the pillars base looking up at each of them in turn:-
Malek, the palaidin. guardian of the pillar of conflict, a warrior inferior only to vorador the greatest vampire kain had ever seen and the only person he considered a friend in his new dark existance. Like kain malek was once killed, but never to live again
Nupraptor, kains first target of the circle. The insane mentalist who guarded the pillar of the mind.  Kain had ripped his swollen bleeding and mutilated head from his shoulders as a token to his pillar.
Mortanius, the necromancer, guardian of the pillar of death, his powers twisted his body to beyond that of a human recognition “but..”kain mused “mortanius was arguably the most humane member of the circle, the only one to avoid the sphere of corruption and the only member to truly act for the good of nosgoth.”  Kain held a little regret at killing him.
Dejoule, bane and anacrothe, the the energist, naturist, and alcheimist all responsible for the warped parody of nature that was dark eden. The three were an triage of influential vampire haters, which only sweetened kains blood lust when he came to kill them.
Azimuth the planner, the sadistic nature of this corrupted guardian sickened kain, even in his tainted existence of unlife the demons she had brought in from the other dimensions only served to infurriate kain .  she too fell to his sword.
Mobius, the wretched bastard of the circle.  Known also for his guise as the oracle, he had manipulated kain countless times like a puppetier happily tugging at the strings of kains action getting him to do his dirty work for him.
“well...”kain softly spoke to himself with a slight laugh. “I severed those strings…right at the neck..”
kain looked up at the last pillar , now realising why he had left it until last.  The pillar of balance, arguably the most Important pillar in the whole of nosgoth, this represented the balance of good and evil in the whole land. It was as important to the world as night and day was to the farmers of this land. The pillar was also important to him for another
reason, a reason full of deceit and manipulation.  The pillar was his.
Less than half an hour ago, kain was confronted by the terrible truth he now hoped to avoid.  That since the moment of ariels death, and his birth.  He had been destined to take up the role as balance guardian.  The truth sickened him.  He had been offered away out of this “vocation” by ariel by choosing to kill himself restore his pillar and heal the world.
“ not for all the blood in nosgoth”  kain repeated to himself. Choosing to rule the world In its damination then never to live in it again. “Better to rule in hell than serve in heaven,” With this final word to himself he stretched and uttered the words for his first spell. Sanctuary, kain was tired, both physically and mentally. He needed to rest.
Kan reappeared at his crypt, and lifted the stone lid with ease, as a mere mortal would open a small door.  He half crawled into his surprisingly comfy coffin, adorned with fine silk and his noble family crest.  He rested his head against the lace pillow, and closed his blood red eyes. Pulling his heavy stone lid over him and blocking out the evil confusion of human machinations
Unbeknown to kain vampires do not evolve slowly over time, they experience hyper accelerated states of metamorphosis in which their powers increase by a large amount, either gaining new physical abilities or enhanced mental attributes.  Kain was also ignorant to the fact that vampires only feel the need to rest when they are about to enter this state of change.
Kain slept. His body betrayed no form of life as he slumbered in his dark crypt , neither breathing or moving .In his mind he tumbled, deeper and deeper into his own subconscious past the petty feelings of greed and ambition that all men felt, past even his emotions of remorse and pity, feelings lost in most vampires. Kains mind was a well and in his dreams he was a cup.  Falling deeper now into his memories,  his first steps, his mother and father, his childhood crushes. His thirtieth birthday. The memories were now darker, and far more disturbing.  His murder, the feeling
of the sword imbeded in his chest, following him into the underworld where the necromancer had pulled it out of his tortured body and even offered it back as a symbol of agreement on kains part.  The necromancer certainly had
a sense of irony.
A flash of blinding light and kain was once again in the clearing in ziegshtrull, where kain was killed, again he saw the sword pierce his armour.

A second flash and kain was at the pillars, looking down on himself confronting ariel
“ you are the last kain, you must die for the world to be restored”

the familiar flash and a young kain, barley 13 stood receiving lessons in church, he listened intently to the priest lecture about the purpose of the pillars and they’re guardians.
“ the pillars, serve to protect us from the evil in this world, my sons from the corruption of the vampires and demons of the world, the imortal guardians each use their powers to aid all of nosgoth."  The pubescent kain piped up
“ but father what if the guardians are killed who will aid us then. Although the guardians are imortal are the not also subject to the frailties of the human form?”  The priest turned his fat face to kain, red and flustered, obviously caught of guard at being asked such an intelligent question by such a young boy. He forced a small laugh.
“ha ha…my son, the blisfull ignorance of youth. In the event a guardian is killed, then the pillars simply call a new one, from birth who in time matures into they’re role.

Again the flash and kain was again listening to ariel.
“from the moment of your birth kain, you have been destined to assume the role of balance guardian.

The flash, and the sword in kains chest

The flash and the words echoing in his mind, “since birth”

Flash  “ In the event of death the pillars simply call a new guardian.”

Flash- “since birth”

Flash- “in the event of death”

Flash- the sword.
The flashes of memories now came thick and fast invading kains mind with clues to the answer of the question that kain had not asked.
Kains eyes opened quickly burning a fierce red, in the confines of his crypt.  He screamed a passionate cry of frustration at being confined and let loose a telekenetic blast of energy.  Violently ripping his stone lid of his coffin and shattering it into stotic sone pieces on the floor.  He heaved himself up and sat . darting his eyes about the room. Breathing heavily. At length he remembered his dream without even a glance at his vastly increased muscle mass.  And exclaimed to the empty room in a loud and thankful voice. Praising the god he did not worship and even defied.
“ I am not the guardian!!!!!!!!!!!!”
