Mortal Love

By Emily Atkins

She looked from her window,
Waiting….waiting for him. Waiting for him to return from his long business trip.  But she knew, she knew he would not come.  In reality he was truly gone.  But she waited as a loyal wife would do.
She watched the sun slowly fall.  The swelling in her stomach had not yet begun, she had not yet told him, until his return for the wonderful news, but twas not so, he would not come home this time.  She blew one last sigh and headed towards her bed, it was cold now that he was gone.
He awoke cold and hungry, but this was no ordinary hunger, the sun has fallen, it was time to feed.  He stepped from the cold mausoleum and into the warm summer night.  He looked deep into the moon and smiled.  He knew this was a perfect night for sport.  The hot air blew in his face and long white hair.  He inhaled deeply into the night, the sent of fresh blood was emanating form the far town of Hrothgar.  He surveyed his surroundings, there was no life in the graveyard.  “The night is perfect for a bite to drink.”  He laughed to himself as he walked down the cobblestone road.
She awoke from her long slumber, she dreamt of him, that he was still alive and well.  She threw her robe on and lifted the heavy curtains form the window,  and let the warm sun fill her room.  A knock came from the door.  “…..Come in.”  she said timidly.  “M’Lady, Moebius is here to see you, it concerns with the noble houses.”
“I see, tell him I will be there in a few moments.”
“Yes my Lady.”
She took one last look at the horizon, then turned to leave.”
“I am sorry Lady Morgianna, but I know you troubled by the death of your husband Kain, but the truce between the royal houses must be signed.” Moebius said.
“Is it such a crime to morn the death of Kain?  He hasn’t even had a proper burial.” Morgianna pled.
Moebius concealed the evil grin that grew on his face, he knew what had happened but she had not.  As long as she was kept ignorant he had control.
“No M’Lady, but this had been postponed for quite sometime, and while this truce is not signed there is a possibility of a civil war between  Coorhagen and Willendorf.  You must be strong now, you are no longer just the Lady of this establishment, but also the Lord.  When Kain died he left no son or brother to take his place, you are the only one who knows it better then I, and I have more important things to deal with then quarrel between two children!”
“I suppose you are right Moebius, but you must promise me to find these murders that killed Kain, we must bring him to justice!”
“I will do my best M’ Lady.”  and with that Moebius bowed and left.
Morginna was left there to contemplate, she knew that she must fulfill her duty as Lord over Kain’s establishment, for her sake, her husband’s, for Coorhagen, and that of Nosgoth.  She just missed him deeply.
The moon rose again, and so did Kain.  He knew little of his mortal past, it was replaced by his hunger for blood, his hate, and his lust to kill humanity.  He stood there waiting by the docks staring out on the black sea, it was midnight now, Vorador was late.  He heard heavy foot steps behind him.
“You are late Vorador, quite late.”  Kain didn’t even turn to face him when he spoke.
“You should be more patient fledgling. And I do not follow by your rules.”  there was a hint of malice in Vorador’s speech.
“You know what must be done tonight, Moebius had prolonged this for far too long, I just hope you know what you are doing Vorador.”  Kain cursed under his breath.
“I do, but do you know what to do when the time comes, we had an agreement.”
Kain turned finally with his violet eyes glaring into Vorador.  He walked past him, Kain’s eyes burning Vorador‘s eyes.
“Let’s just get this done.” Kain grumbled.
Morgianna stared into the mirror, brushing the long locks of her dark brown hair.  She stared so deeply into it that she felt she was not even there.  Her mind began to drift, thoughts passed her mind, that of Kain, and her.  She pressed her stomach, the swelling was starting.  She knew he was out there, she had a feeling he was still there, alive somewhere.  A cold drift went through the room, her mind suddenly snapped into focus.  “The Window!  I swear I didn’t leave it open?” Another draft blew through, this time it pushed her down and the candles went out.  Her room was dark, but the faint moon light had shown an outline of the room.  She looked around in fear to see if everything was ok. She could see a tall masculine figure in the corner of her room with glowing yellow eyes, she grabbed the knife on the desk.  “Who art thou?! What do you want.!”
“I come for Moebius.”  The strange voice growled.
She backed slowly towards the opposite corner.  Another hand grabbed her and cupped her mouth,  white clammy hands.  Her eyes widened with fear.  She could feel the icy breath on her neck.
“I will ask you again mortal!  Where is Moebius!”  Vorador snapped.
“I….I…..I don’t know, he…..he left early this morning, he..hee said something…something about Willendorf.  I don’t know!”  She trembled into the other’s arms.
The Guard’s footsteps could be heard marching up to Lady Morgianna’s chambers.
“Vorador!  We must leave now, Willendorf is enough information, if we hurry we can arrive there by early morning.!”  Morgianna recognized that voice!
The figure from the opposite side of the room reached a hand out to stroke Morgianna’s face.  She trembled with fear.
“You know it would be shame to leave her.” Vorador whispered.
“NO! We must leave now! Kain shouted!
And as quickly as they came in, they left.  Just as they left her, Faye her servant rushed to Morgianna’s  side.
“M’ Lady we heard you shout. Are you alright?”
“I’m fine….I…I just had a bad dream.”
“But I..”
“I’m fine.”
Faye looked shamed, and backed slowly to the door.  Morgianna was left with conflicts in her mind.  Was that he?  Could it have been my Kain? Is he alive, and why was he with that vampire?
Kain also was puzzled.  As he rushed with Vorador by his side towards his manor, he could not help but recognize that woman he held.  The smell of her hair brought flashbacks into his mind.  That smell….that smell…what was that fragrance?

The next morning Moebius had arrived at Lord Morgianna’s Manor.  When he came in, she ran to him in anger.
“Who is Vorador?  What  does he want with you?  What are you hiding, I do not like the fact that there are things brewing behind my back.  What business do you have with him.! I demand an answer Moebius!”
“Vorador? You say?” Moebius tried to appear surprised, after all it would not be long until Kain would come her way.  She was an important figure in the Nosgoth Royal Houses and she was moving an act to avoid war in Nosgoth.
“My Lady I am truly sorry for the incident of what happened last night, if you would prefer to move to a safer location, I would be happy to arrange it.  I am surprised Vorador did not try to strike you.  To loose you…..could mean chaos.”
“I understaind  Moebius, but I want to avoid war if possible in Nosgoth and I do not want vampires involved!
“Vampires may be the ones be responsible for the war.  And if you please now Lord Morgianna, we must go to Willendorf to sign the treaty, if you wish to end it.”
Morgianna could see a coldness in Moebius’s expression, she didn’t want to bring up Kain, she could sense something was wrong, something  Moebius knew that she did not.
“As you wish Moebius.  Await for my arrival in Willendorf.

Kain was in a deep meditation, he let his eyes roll back in his head and his tongue slip slowly down his throat, his shoulders went limp, and he curled inside the small enclosed coffin.  Dreams came to him that day, dreams he never thought  possible.  That smell still lingered in his nostrils, a vision of a woman appeared.  She was standing in a field of rye and wheat, her back facing him.  Her long curly brown hair blew in the wind, he was walking towards her, he could hear a child laughing.  She reached down to pull up a child that held his features, she turned to see him, the child kept his gaze on Kain, not smiling, not a gaze of anger but of recognition.  This child held Kain’s likeness, but before the woman could speak he awoke to the sound of calamity. He burst from his coffin, and ran up the stairs of Vorador’s manor.  Everything was in wreck, his valuables looted, his brides were rapped and murdered.  Hatred boiled in Kain’s vanes.  He walked through the ruined palace.  He heard a faint moan from the fountain room.  It was Igraine, one of Vorador’s brides.
“K…K….K….ain.”
“Igraine, what happened?”
“Moe..Moe..mmm.”
“Shhhh, Igraine.  Let me give you some of my blood.”
He slit his wrist, and let the blood trickle down his wrist.  She lifted her head to lick some of the blood.  But it was too late for her, she already began to slip away.
“I’m sorry Vorador….Kain…..I failed you.”  Igraine’s last words trembled from her lips.
Kain sat there with Igraine’s limp body in his hands.  His eyes began to twitch and his fists began to clenched with hatred.  He tossed his head back and gave out a load roar.
“Igraine! You shall not die in vain, I shall find Moebius and I will kill him.  You shall be avenged!”
He sat there crying in hatred and in rage.  Vorador was kidnapped, it was his only friend, teacher, and master.  He will find him, and kill Moebius.  He wrapped his cloak around Igraine’s lifeless body.  He slowly stood up still staring down at her, turned and walked out of the ruins.

He awoke in a cold cell, his face flat on the cold surface on the dirt ground.  His body was limp and weak, he had no strength to move.  “Urghhh, where am I?”
“You are in my possession Vorador. Strange how you were once so mighty and bold, now are nothing but a weakling against my scepter!”  Moebius had called behind him.
“You sick bastard!  I will rip your lungs out and drink from your heart!” Vorador raised his voice with what ever strength he had left.
“HAHAHA! You FOOL! How can you!  Tomorrow at dawn, you will be beheaded in public to set an example.  I will put an end to your kind, and your rule, human’s shall once again rule.  And the Pillars will be restored!”  Moebius laughed.
“Do you know why you are here Vorador?” Moebius questioned.
“Because I believe, that Kain will not sacrifice himself to your selfish cause, he will bring back the true balance into Nosgoth, and I make sure you will be alive and suffering to see it!” Vorador spat blood in Moebius’s face.
“You are here, because, I have seen the future and there are no vampires in it!  And you and your brides will be executed tomorrow, your Kain will be forced if he has to, to sacrifice himself.”
And with that Moebius departed in rage and left  Vorador weak in cell.

By next morning Kain rushed into city of Hrothgar where Vorador was known to be executed.  Kain had drunk enough blood to darken his skin, and give him more of a human appreance.  He was filled with so much rage that his eyes seemed to fire.  “I am going to sink my teeth into that bastard!”  Kain thought.  When he arrived into the center, what he saw was as worse as the hell he had awoken in.
Humans were all possessed and all seemed to moan like zombies to Moebius’s words.  He held the humans enthralled in his “sermon” there eyes seemed all rolled in there sockets.  Kain looked hastily for Vorador, but it was no use he could not find him.
“My brothers, I hold here the strongest vampire…Vorador!”  Moebius brings Vorador blindfolded.  Kain sees this and tenses.
“My brothers, we stand on a new age!  The death of the vampires!  We shall rule again, and bring a death to any vampires that stand in our way!”  Moebius prattles on.
“YESSSSS, MOEBIUS.  YOUR WILL BE DONE!”
Moebius rips off the blind fold from Vorador.  The expression on his face it total fear.  For the first time in his undead life Vorador fears for his unlife.  He looks franticly around for Kain, but fails to see him in the crowd.
Moebius leans to Vorador’s ear and whispers into him.  “Do you see him Vorador?  Kain looks at you with pity.  He will be next and your brides with him.  Your death means nothing to the weal of fate!  You are merely a pawn, you are giving your life to Kain…in vain.  I will destroy him if needed, and rule in his place.  And with that knowledge….DIE!” Moebius quickly draws a sword and cut off Vorador’s head
“The great Vampire is DEAD!”  Moebius screams, and the people fall down to worship him.  Moebius’s eyes are completely black as through he was possessed.  He gives out a sigh of relief.
Vorador’s head sees Kain, the stares at Moebius.  “Cut off a Vampires head and it still has the power to bite.”  Vorador’s voice comes from the feet of Moebius.
“WHAT?”  Moebius is startled by this.  Vorador’s head leaps towards Moebius, and nearly bites Moebius’s arm off.  Then with that last bite Vorador’s head shrivels and dies.
“Now my brothers we must kill them all, as the points to Kain.”
The crowd turns to Kain and with a devilish cry they move in a mass with fire and spears.  The crowd overwhelms Kain, nearly crushing him, he can feels the sharpness of their spears in his body.  He gives out a cry, and with a force throws the human mob off of him.  He bleeds profusely.  He knows he could not stand up to the mob, so he runs.
He runs as fast as he can but the archers form the top of the building fill him with arrows.  He feels a fiery burn in his chest, one of the arrows nearly hits his heart and he jumps from the bridge, and falls on the frozen river.  Moebius rushes to the bridge.  “Hold your arrows let him rot in his watery grave!”  Not realizing that Morgianna is standing from the darkness of the shadows below the bridge.
Kain looks up, weak and his vision fading, but before he passes out on the ice he sees a slender figure of a woman coming to his side, and the last thing he smells is that familiar fragrance.

He awoke inside a warm bed, his wounds closed and the arrows pulled from his body, his head spins to gain consciousness, he sees a woman sitting in a rocking chair next to his bed.
“Youuu….I know you but…where?”  Kain struggles to push out words from his mouth.
“I know you well Kain, I am not here to turn you in, but save you.”  Her words soft and comforting into Kain’s ears.
“I am sorry for the death of your friend but you must lie low for a while, pretend that you are dead, so Moebius doesn’t find you.”
“Why?  Why are you doing this mortal?  Why help me?  You know what I intent to do.  Why?”  Kain was puzzled by this mortal’s actions.
“Because I still believe you are in their Kain.  Wake up Kain!  Moebius had you played for a fool.  I know you are still in there, my husband.”  Morgianna’s voice quieted when she said husband.
“WHAT?” Kain stood from the bed.  He looked down at her, flashbacks swarmed his mind.  He smelt her, he dreamt of her, he knew in his soul that it twas so.
“Mor…Morgianna?  My mortal wife?  You, I…I…how?”
“It’s ok Kain, I know you are there, come home now, you will have a child soon.”
“WHAT?” Kain’s eyes widened.
“Yes Kain, I wanted to tell you when you returned, but not….now..”  She began to break down and cry.
“Shh.  Morgianna, I am here now, do not cry.”  He brushed her tears away from her cheeks.  She looked up at him with her eyes full of tears.
“Moebius said  you were dead, that you were murdered.”
“I’m not dead.”  Kain grew a strange grin on his face, and a long tooth stoke out.  Morgianna stepped back.
“What happened to you Kain?  Where did you go?  Why didn’t you come home?”
“I am different now Morgianna, I can never go home.  You must understand.”
“You…you are one of them….a vampire?”  She cupped her mouth to cover her scream.
“I am sorry.  I must go Morgianna.  It won’t be long before Moebius discovers me here, and if he does he will kill you and I and our unborn child.”
“I..I….I understand, I will help you anyway I can.”  She started to calm down.
“You will meet me at Willendorf.  There I will build forces with our ally to fight against Moebius.  Moebius has gained control over our rule in Nosgoth, I cannot allow him to continue this rule.”
“Yes my husband.”
“My loyal wife, he bent down to her to embrace her.  He held her there, kissing her lovingly. He remembered the way he used to when he was mortal.  They shared tears and kisses, then he departed.”
“Meet me there Morgianna.  I love you.”  She nodded in agreement.
She looked around, it was empty again, the city outside was burning, the sound of Avernus bells could be heard.  They were looking for him.
Just then, a knock came from her bedroom door.  A voice came from behind it.  It was Moebius.  She shook and whimpered.  He opened the door slowly.
“Morgianna, there you are.”  His face was cold and malice.
“Moebius what is happening?  Why is there war, I called for no war, I do not approve of this.”
“Oh Morgianna, if you only understood.”  He circled around her.  “I think…your hiding something.”
“I am not hiding anything, you are the one hiding Kain from me.”  she snapped at him.
“I know…you let him….ESCAPE!” Moebius threw things around the room in rage. “ AND NOW ALL OF NOSGOTH IS BURING BECAUSE OF YOU!”
“He was kind to me Moebius.”  She answered timidly.
“YOU WEAK MINDED FOOL, THAT WASN’T KINDNESS, THAT WAS CUNNING!  HE’S A VAMPIRE, HE’S NOT CAPABLE OF REAL LOVE!  THINK WOMAN, THINK OF VORADOR!”  He was grabbing her and shaking her with violence.  He began to calm down, he could see the look of fear was in her eyes.
“But what would a poor mere mortal know of vampires.”  Placing his hood over his eyes again
“I know about his hideout, and tomorrow at dawn I attack with a thousand men.”  He told her this as he walked away from her, and left her crying.
She didn’t know what to do next.  She had to go to Willendorf and warn him.  She knew this could mean his death.  She threw the cloak on her and ran out.  She ran down to the stables and raced towards Willendorf.
“She’s leaving now, we’ve got him.”  Moebius knew she would warn Kain, he threatened her because he knew she would lead Moebius and his army to him.  He watched her fade into the burning night sky, and then ordered his troops to march forward.

She rode deep into the  night, it was going to be a long ride from Coorhagen to Willendorf, she knew Kain with his speed could get there in minutes, but with her it would take at least a day or two.  She made a non-stop journey to Avernus, there she saw total chaos!  The city was engulfed in flame, the Cathedral’s bells were sounding as though mad.  She held her cloak tight, the winter air just began to blow.
Kain awaited her arrival in Willendorf, he saw her coming from his sanctuary.   It was a weird feeling, the moment with his wife, truly made him feel mortal again.  He knew that she could not stay with him, she would be in the way tiring to hold him back from his destiny.  But was it truly what he wanted?
She rode up to the sanctuary, dismounted and opened the door of the ruined church.  Kain hurried down the steps from the dorm to the entrence .
“Morgianna, I knew you would come, I have an army of vampires, the ones who survived the extermination, I also have are ally, King of Willendorf  Ottmar on our side.  You have kept your promise Morgianna.”
“SO HAVE I!”  Moebius’s voice yelled behind them.
Kain and Morgianna turned to face him on the top of the stairs, surrounding him was thousands of men in armor.
“NO!” Morgianna yelled “How did you find us?”
“Why you lead my right to him, my dear.” Moebius reached his hand to stroke her face.
She spat at him.  “You’re a liar!”
“Ah what have I caught in my fly trap, the fledgling, but notorious Kain.”
“When I get out of here Moebius, I am going to kill you myself.”  Kain cursed.
“I could only imagine, you will be burned at the stake along with your wife.”
“NOOOOO!” but before Kain could leap from the guard’s grasp, his mind seemed to be shut off, and his body grown limp. “I will kill you.”  Then Kain slipped away with his wife screaming from behind him.
When he awoke.  His arms where stretched out, he was stripped from the waist up.  His body felt this weak just before the murders had killed him in Coorhagen.
“Ah Kain you are finally awake.”  From across him, Moebius stood there in the darkness, with a single light flickering above his head.
“Where is Morgianna?  What have you done with her you sick twisted old man!”
“She is safe, for now.  She is pregnant you know with your child, she tried to hide that from me, but that child will of use to me when it is born.”
“You sick SCHWEINHUND!” Kain cursed in his native language.
“Curse at me all you want, but you can’t avoid your destiny.”
“It’s not like I have a choice.”
“No, you don’t, I know what your choice was, I have foreseen it  and I am here to change that.”  He turned from Kain, and laughed.  Kain was left in his cell weak from Moebius’s scepter.  He was worried for Morgianna, he knew she was in danger, her child must be saved.

The next night, Kain was brought to the crowd, crucified. The guards were throwing wood around him to be burned.  He bit his lip hard enough for blood to break through the skin.  “These mortals have no idea what they are into.  Vampires are not held so easily down my mere mortal tools.”  Kain thought this and smiled an evil smile.
Meanwhile Morgianna watched from the tier in Avernus. She surveyed over the crowd, seeing human and demon all under Moebius’s control like puppets.  “It seems so hopeless, but then , Kain he will escape….won’t he?”  Morgianna was panicking now, she was imprisoned here in the Cathedral forced to witness her husband’s execution.
“Brothers!  I bring you here in front of the Avernus Cathedral to witness the death of the last vampire among us!  This is KAIN, said to be the savior of Nosgoth! HA!  He is a mere demon from Hell!  This fire shall cleanse him and send him back to Hell from which he belongs!”  Moebius gave a devilish grin, staring deep into Kain’s eyes.  He was astonished that Kain was also  staring into Moebius’s eyes with the same evil grin.  He felt no fear as Vorador had done, this gave Moebius a hint of fear, and that was all Kain needed.
“Any last words Kain?” Moebius pressed closer to Kain’s face.
“Just one.”  Kain tilted his head to push the hair and blood from his eyes.  “NOW!”
Moebius was startled when Kain had shouted this, but as he looked at him, Kain’s mouth seemed to grow into a large black hole and his eyes on fire.  He turned in fear and saw that the army that was once his, was replaced by King Ottmar’s army  and vampires.  He tried in vain to lift his staff, but it was no use, he may have been able to weaken the vampires but the humans of Ottmar were gaining on him and moving their forces into Avernus Cathedral.  Moebius turned to were Kain was but there was no Kain, but a great white wolf with fire eyes leaped out and pounced on to Moebius knocking out the scepter from his hands.  The white wolf staring deep into Moebius’s eyes, and Moebius in Kain’s or the white wolf.  There was for an instant a moment of silence between Kain and Moebius, all seemed to slow around them, then the wolf crushing Moebius down brought his snout to Moebius’s ear and said.  “I told you Moebius, I will break free and destroy you, I will rule over Nosgoth as the rightful King, and in that knowledge DIE!” Kain bit Moebius’s face off then ripped him apart.  His wolf body morphing in to the vampire  licking the blood from his face his eyes still on fire shouted.  “The great Manipulator  is DEAD!”  This time Kain gave the roar of relief and gave a victorious cry to the last few vampires and Ottmar’s army.
Morgianna watching all this in horror, knew this Kain was not her Kain, but a demon who has replaced him.  She didn’t want it to end like this.  She rushed to the entrance of the Cathedral where Kain was.  She opened the heavy doors with what ever strength she had left and ran out to Kain.  Kain was standing on the pedestal with the Soul Reaver in his hands laughing an inhuman laugh.
“KAIN!”  Morgianna screamed in horror.  “What happened to you?”
Kain slowly turning to her, it was not the Kain she knew, he was deeply enthralled in his hate, and lust.  Blood triclled down his mouth and arms.  He was covered in Moebius’s blood.  She was freighted by him.
“Morgianna, it is done, we are free from his touch, he is gone, we can live together now, with you as my queen, our child shall become my heir.”  His voice did not sound like his own.
“What?  What do you mean Kain, become King, Queen, rule over Nosgoth.  What happened to you, you are not the Kain I know, Moebius was right you have changed you are truly dead.”  Her voice trembling and weak, she was frightened of what he became.
“You…YOU DARE TALK OF THAT INFIDEL!  IF YOU ARE NOT WITH ME YOU ARE AGAINST ME!”
“Kain please, calm down, come home.  I won’t loose you again.”  She sobbed.
“I HAVE NO HOME WELP, YOU HAVE BETRAYED ME HAVEN’T YOU!”
“No, Kain, you are going down a dark path I simply cannot follow, please think of our child.”
“SHUT UP!  YOU HAVE TRICKED ME HAVN’T YOU, YOU WANT ME TO SACRIFICE MYSELF!”
“What are you talking about?”  She started to back away from him, but he came towards her with blazing eyes.  He picked her up my the neck and began to choke her.
“YOU’VE DECIEVED ME!”  Kain held her high above him.  She crying and screaming.
“KAIN!” Ottmar’s voice called from behind him.  “What are you doing to that woman?”
Kain suddenly realizing what he was doing dropped her, he was speechless, he didn’t know what he was doing, where he was, and who he was.  It was as though he was someone else.
“I…I…..I…I’m sorry Morgianna.”  He stared down at her lifeless body, she was alive though, but barely but Kain did not notice.
“Kain, Moebius’s forces are reaching to Willendorf, we must stop him.”  King Ottmar had called from behind him.  Kain backed slowly from Morgianna’s body.
“What have I done?”
“Kain, we must go!”
He looked down at her as he was turning to leave.  But she lay ther motionless,

[The battle between Kain and the last of Moebius‘s forces in Willendorf continued into morning, but there was no sun, it was continuously dark.  Kain sank deeper into the fiend he was becoming, forgetting entirely of Morgianna he embraced the dark gift.  After the battle Ottmar discovered Morgianna and nursed her, meanwhile Kain was called to the Pillars.  The moment of the fall of the Pillars his child is born.]

At the pillars Kain was given two choices, to save Nosgoth, or destroy it.
“Kain, are you prepared to do what you must do?”  Ariel’s ghost like voice sounded behind the Pillar of Balance.
“Yesssss.”  Kain grinning. “I am the only surviving member of the circle of nine, and the world is at my whim.” Kain thought to himself.
“What do you chose Kain?”
“I chose DESCRUTION! YOU, ALL OF YOUR SORCERORS THAT  HAVE DECIEVED ME!  BUT NOW, I HOLD THE UPPER HAND, AND I CHOSE YOUR DEMISE!”
“Kain, you fool, you will destroy yourself with this choice.”
“HAHAHA, I shall become King!  The true master of Nosgoth!”
And with that the Pillars exploded, a load moaning sound and an inhuman screech could be heard, followed by white light.  Ariel’s scream deafen the land.
After sometime Kain recovered his ears ringing to the sound.  The thought of Morgianna had faded completely, he execpted his vampire unlife and dismissed that once belonged to him.
“Vorador was right, we are dark gods, and it is our duty to thin the heard.”

Morgianna awoke in King Ottomar’s castle, she was wrapped in blankets, her pale skin was sheet white, and the swell in her stomach was gone.  It was gone!  Her child!  She looked around franticly.  Just then a figure came from the door.  It was her faithful servant Faye.
“M’Lady, it is a boy!”  She rushed in with a small bundel in her arms.  Lady Morgianna reached for her child embracing him.  She looked down on him with motherly love.
“Oh my little son, you shall be named Abel.”  He had much of Kain’s features, but his hair was a strange dark blood red color.
“M’Lady, if I may, it may be wise to hide him from Kain, and hide yourself.”  Faye said.
“Yes, but I do believe Kain is not all evil, he is still there, somewhere I know it.  Perhaps he will return someday.  I believe in Kain.”
