Raziel now is near the Drowned Abby. And finds a small structure off to the side he decides to see what is it is because it might have a key to what happened while he was in the abyss. He moves through the building and eventually comes to a small mausoleum he looks in side and sees a shocking and haunting sight. 7 sarcophaguses ripped out of the walls and opened. And above them were the names of Kain’s vampire lieutenants Melchiah, Zephon, Rahab, Dumah, Turel, and Raziel. But one thing troubled Raziel. There was 1 more sarcophagus open. And the name Malek was engraved above it. Raziel remembers Kain telling him that he and his brethren were the only sons he had so he wondered did Kain lie to them or did someone else raise Malek from his grave or did Kain raise Malek and intend not to keep him as a lieutenant? These thoughts ran through Raziel’s head as he left the crypt and headed for the Drowned Abby. But as he approached the Rahab’s territory he had a feeling that Malek was in the other direction. So, he went the other way to find Malek and to find answers. After a short journey Raziel comes upon a small chamber in a tunnel he found in a swamp near the Sanctuary of the Clans. He looks around the chamber and finds some kind of controls on the far side of the room. He turns them and out of the center an orb appears with a button on the top. He walks over to the button and without hesitation presses the button and a flash of lightning takes him decades into the future. And unbeknownst to him he had just found one of Moebius’ time-streaming devices. Once he can see again he notices than the chamber is different there is no tunnel and there are no cracks in the ceiling. He walks outside and peers into the time he has come to and he sees a world even worse than the world he was in. He could see part of the Sanctuary destroyed and a giant fortress standing where his clan was when he was still a vampire in Kain’s empire. So, he travels through the ruined sanctuary and comes upon the fortress built on top of Raziel’s territory. There is no security but there are quarters for creatures to sleep and Raziel notices that there is a substantial amount blood basins all over the place. So, Raziel assumes that this is a fortress for some breed of vampire. But Raziel doesn’t dwindle on this long for he hears a voice up a flight of stairs right next to him. And at that second he races up the stairs waiting to see who is at the top of the stairs. The first thought of the person that could be up there was Kain, but then Raziel thought of Turel and said to himself that Turel wasn’t dead Turel wasn’t dead. But when he got to the top of the stairs he saw Kain’s and Turel’s dead bodies on the floor and at the end of the room standing and staring across at Raziel was none other than Malek. He held the Soul Reaver in one hand and in the other what looked like a sword made of bones and Raziel assumed than Turel had made that sword and both Kain and Turel had tried to fight Malek, but lost. And then Raziel realized that he must kill Malek and bring forth the rebirth of the clans by reincarnating Kain and his brethren. But he still had to kill Malek, which wouldn’t be an easy task. Raziel, unleashing the Reaver, attacks Malek. And after a long and gruesome battle Malek is skewered through the heart and and his last words were: I always looked up to you Raziel as a vampire, as a ruler, and as a brother of the sarafan. You must find your past there is another time-streaming device in the Sanctuary of the Clans, go there and use this key to get in its already set to a time that you will need to go to and please make things right. And after that Malek dies in Raziel’s claws and Raziel takes part of Kain’s soul resurrects him and Turel and leaves for the future to see his future, understand his past, live the present, and fulfill his destiny.
