Chapter 1: An old friend

Kain beheld the ruined pillars from the vampire citidel. He wondered what his next move was, he had already fought the elder god but still there was no sense of victory. He had to carefully think of his next move to regain power in Nosgoth and return the now currupted pillars to Vampire hands. At that instant he knew what it was he had to do, he would seek out Vorador as he was the only one who now lived, known to posess the knowlegde he now sort.
Kain transformed into a swarm of bats and sort the village of William the Just to where Voradors execution was to be carried out. Due to altered history Vorador was still alive and well, his execution had not yet been carried out and he rotted in a local jail which of corse was heavily guarded by Mobieus's Vampire hunters. Kain made quick work of these hunters as he drew closer as he said to himself "Now i will have my answers". Kain busted down the Jail door and inside lay a very weak and scared Vorador. The Vampire cryed out with great effort.. "Blood .... pl..e.a..se i must... have ..u..gh b..loo..d". Kain laughed at the now pitful form of the once great Vorador but he did as the Vampire said as how else would he get his answers.
Kain dragged in a body of one of the dead guards of which he killed and showed his neck to Vorador. Vorador drank as soon as he saw the dead human he wiped his mouth and gave out a gasp of satisfaction. The Vampire looked up and reliezed straight away who it was. "Although you look different you still smell the same it has been a long time Kain, not for I of corse but for you it must have been at least a 1000 years..." Vorador said. "Enough of reminsing Vorador you know why im here i need answers!" shouted Kain. "You will show more respect in my presence Kain! But yes of corse you must fore fill your destiny as scion of balance" "Then tell me how, what must be my next move!" said Kain getting frustrated again. Vorador sighed "I am unable to tell you Kain im but a pawn in this game much like you once was but I know someone who can help you he is the very first vampire among us". Kain laughed " I thought you were the first vampire Vorador or is there another chapter of history that remains shrouded from me?" Vorador stood up as his strength started to return " Kain although you have gone across Nosgoths past and future you have not gone deeper into the past have you not? you have not gone back to the times of the great war against the race of my sire and the unspoken?". Kain looked at Vorador puzzled "No, why is there knowlegde to be gained by this?" asked Kain. Vorador laughed "Much knowlegde young one but that is not important now one must look to the future not the past". Vorador sighed again and leaned himself against a nearby wall "You must seek out the oldest of us all he has exilied himself to the centre of Nosgoth I belive you have already visited it in your youth?". Kain looked away "The Lost City" Vorador nodded "The City of the Unspoken or one of their cities before our ancestors leveled it all that remains there now is a few scraps of what was once the unspokens wreched civilation if you can call it that, but when you explored the lost city i fear you did not gaze deeply enough the unspoken have a dark secret there that few know of even after his help we were unable to trust this creature and so he was banished, i belive he still resides there". Kain looked back at Vorador "Perhaps so you are saying I should pay this entertiy a visist?". Vorador walked towards the barred window of the jail "He knows more than you can imagine....". echoes of foot steps could now be heard from the rooms above with the sounds of soldiers ready for battle, a report could be heard from one of them "a vampire has infaltrated the keep" shouted one of them. A sound from the soliders could also be heard "Sound the alarm all avaliable men report to the vampires cell!". Vorador looked around at Kain quickly "make your way back to the lost city and seek out the one we call the "betrayer" you will reach his inner sanctum with my ring i belive you still have it". Kain put one hand up to his right ear " I do". Vorador nodded "Then use it on the highest temple on the highest door you must seek out the "betrayer" he will not find you, now i must go you know where". Kain nodded "You will help me on my first conquest of Nosgoth". Vorador sighed "Yes we will not meet again Kain goodbye". Kain turned toward the cell door "Goodbye Vorador and thank you", Vorador laughed and had to keep himself up "You know Kain for a moment there I thought you almost had a heart" at that instant Vorador disappeared into into a cloud of green dust. Kain growled at the remark and transformed into a swarm of bats hearing behind him the crys of the soliders shouting "where are they! They have vanished find them!". Kain now made his way to the lost city wondering what he would find there.

Chapter 2: The Reaver of Souls

Kain arrivied at the lost city the lake now looked darker than he had remebered it as the world corrupted and twisited around him due to his selfish decision. "One day" he said to himself, "this world will be pure again". Kain looked out across the lake and remebered he would have to wait for a full moon before he could gain access to the city. Kain looked up at the sky "there shall be a full moon tonight" he said to himself, "I know it". He looked over at a cave near by and ran into it to sheild himself from the sun light, although he was immune to the sun now he was still a little weakened by its unforgivable rays and he could not afford to get into a large battle with any of Mobieus's followers during the day or with anything else for that matter. He sat within the cave waiting impatiently for night fall. Kain started to think back about all that had transpired over the last few months. The death of Raziel and then his rebirth, the defiance of destiny, the sacrafice of Raziel and finally the fight with the elder god. He was now on a path that is shrouded from him he has the purified reaver and the sight, but now what was he surposed to do the elder god is everywhere, in the world of the living and the world of the dead. How was he surposed to combat such a creature that can span across time and space? As Kain pondered this the reaver started to glow. Kain picked it up at once and at that heard a ringing in his head. At that instant a voice spoke... "Kain!". Kain jumped back "what is this!" Kain then looked down at the floor where the reaver was still glowing, "you know who it is Kain as your symbotic weapon i am also able to communicate to you in spirit" Kain now moved closer to the reaver with a look of reliesation on his face, "Raziel!" he exclaimed. "humph i see your sight has not also slowed your mind there might be hope for us yet!". Kain sat down again "but how?". Raziel vision could now be seen clearly in his head "The path you now tread is as shrouded to me as it is to you i guess history can be rewritten after all". Kain laughed "But you failed to tell me the significance in your sacrafice!", Raziel glared at Kain in the vision in his head "You still do not know!? Kain i was the vampire champion and the Hylden champion i was redeemer and destoryer, it was never my destiny that was significant it was yours!". Kain scowled at the reaver now and at the vision of Raziel in his head "My destiny for once in my life, i dont know how that destiny is surposed to be fore filled the enemy i thought was mine is only yet another pawn in this endless game". Raziel laughed "Not as knowledgable as you would like to think Kain but i agree with Vorador we must seek out this "Betrayer" he will have the answers we hopefully seek". Kain nodded and looked outside, night fall had come the full moon appeared in the sky and the lost city appeared in the middle of the lake. "We must go" Kain said to the reaver. The vision of Raziel started to fade "Until we speak again" the reaver stopped glowing and reverted back to its orignal state. Kain picked it up and transformed back into a swarm of bats and flew across the lake, unaware Kain was being watched from the highest tower of the highest temple by a pair of yellow ancient eyes "so" said a strange voice "the scion of balance returns....".

Chapter 3: The Lost City

Kain landed at the entrance to the lost city. Being here again Kain could feel the powerful presence of this "Betrayer" eminating from the centre sqaure of the city where indeed the biggest and grandest temple stood. In his youth he had only made a short excurtion here as It was not significant to his quest to assinate the pillar gaurdians. As Kain walked along the dusty streets four wear wolves jumped out at Kain. At least he could remember these creatures the ware wolves came at Kain with great speed and power. Kain could barely draw the Soul Reaver before he was knocked down by the pack. Kain needed to do something, at that instant a flash came into Kains headed as memories of his past came rushing back to him. He then remembered his wolf form, he had not used it since his youth as he started to jump higher and become faster anyway over the years of his curse he never really found a use for it. He did so anyway he channeled his energy into a wolf and he made it so. Hair grew on Kain's back and then went across his body. He started to hunch and his fangs and claws became twice the size. For the first time in hundreds of years Kain had become a ware wolf. Kain stood there snarling and snapping at the pack. The first wolf jumped at Kain, Kain was too fast for it and he simply tossed the wolf at a nearby wall severly wounding it. The second and third ran at Kain he ripped the pair apart, the forth was not so brave and ran back into the shadows of the city. Kain transformed back reveling in his victory but now something else bothered him. He could feel power which he had not felt since his youth abilities he had not used for hundreds of years were now flooding back to him. Kain carried on into the main square where he was meet with the familiar sight of demonic creatures obviously escaping from the demon realm with the calapse of the pillars. Five demons greeted Kain here and a sixth appeared behind Kain and a wall of fire blocked his escape routes. The demon laughed "there is no escape vampire!". Kain smirked but thought what other abilities he would be able to utilize that he had not used in hundreds of years. He then had a image in his head of one of his most powerfulist spells. As the demons started to advance he unleashed a powerful burst of electicty from his claws which lept up at the sky. One of the demons laughed "Is this the great power of the vampires I am unimpressed". Kain however smirked an pointed up, the demons quickly turned their heads towards the sky and just as they did thousands of lightening bolts peiced their bodies. The demons screamed out in terror and then were silenced as their bodies splattered into thousands of peices. Kain laughed with satisfaction "the power of lightening what is it about this place that fuels me with power that has long been dormant to me?". He was sure that he would get his answers as soon as he meet the "Betrayer". The Soul Reaver started to glow once more and Kain knew that Raziel was once again straining against the bonds of his prison to speak with Kain. Kain closed his eyes and saw Raziels image form in his head. Raziels words spoke with haste and ergancy "Kain take heed he is here the elder god", Kain smirked "We have battled him once before and now with these powers he is no match for us". Kain could see Raziel shaking his head within his "The Elder God has musted more power to this location than he had within the spirit forge he clearly does not want you to meet with this "Betrayer"". Kain frowned "Well we will have to be on our guard then". Raziel then smirked "well I see your long dormant powers are becoming alive again I see that mine are as well". Kain looked puzzled "What do you mean?", the Soul Reaver then let out a great burst of fire that seemed to fill the area. Kain jumped back alarmed "What the hell!" Kain shouted. Raziel laughed "When I hunted you back within the future I came across magical glypes and I was given many elemental powers they may be useful to you". Kain laughed "I fear there is some dark purpose behind these events we must careful". Raziel nodded in agreement and then vanished. Kain walked over towards the dark temple in the middle of the centre square. As he started to ascend the steps to great tenticles burst out of the stone work of the temple Kain rolled back and started to run to the other side of the square. But two more tenticles blocked his exit, Kain looked around and heard a fimilar laugh echoing from all around. "So you didnt stay hidden for long I see?" Kain growled. four more tenticles apeared from behind Kain as he lept round to face them, "Pathetic vampire I am here and everywhere, now and always, do you really think such a small and insignificant being like yourself could destory me then you are very much mistaken Kain" the Elder God mumbled. Kain drew the Soul Reaver ready for battle "looks like we will fight again then?" Shouted Kain. The Elder God laughed "but a diffrent outcome!", eight more tenticles appeared behind Kain followed on with the four he was facing already it made twelve. Kain knew he was in trouble he could not fight off as many as this. As the Elder God started thrashing and slaming his tenticles at Kain, Kain ducked and dive to dodge them. Kain hacked away at the tenticles of the Elder God with the Soul Reaver but with each tenticle he hacked off another or sometimes two more would take its place. Kain tryed in vain but he was not getting no where, Kain finally calapse to the floor through excaustion as he now faced 32 tenticles. Kain knelt there at the mercy of the Elder God and waited for him to finish Kain off. But at that instant many dead bodies raised from the ground . There eyes glowing a bright green, Kain had seen such eyes before and knew they were Hylden. The bodies then disolved and the Hyldens true forms could be made apparant. The first one spoke "There he is the scion of balance destroy him!". But his comrades were not listening they all looked up to where the tenticles of the Elder God was swaying and thrashing around. one of the Hylden fell back and shouted "It is the evil god he is here!!", the Hylden then seemed less intrested in Kain and more interested in fighting off the many tenticles of the Elder God. Kain saw this as an opptunity to escape, Kain then felt a sudden rush of power come to him and he teleported himself away into the dark temple hearing the voices of both the Hylden and the Elder God behind him. "Kill him destory!", "ha ha ha, you insects are nothing" shouted the Elder God. As Kain teleported away he could only imagine that the Elder God made quick work of the Hylden but what was puzzling him more was "How did the Hylden see the Elder God!?".

Chapter 4: The Betrayer

Kain arrived at the top of the dark temple. Kain drew the Soul Reaver as he didnt want to come across anymore unwelcome surprises. As he walked down the long coridors he wondered why the Hylden were able to see the Elder God? And of corse what was it about this place that awakened his long dormant powers? Perhaps It would all become clear once he met this betrayer. Kain came to the door at the top of that dark temple. He sheathed the Soul Reaver and wiped his hand across the door. It was a large door that could easierly be mistaken for a normal wall, as he didnt stop to look at his surrondings the first time he was here he would not have noticed it. He saw a small hole in the centre where he asumed was where he had to insert Voradors ring. He took the ring carefully from his ear and placed it within the hole. There was a flash and Kain bounced back when he looked again the door had vanished along with the ring. Kain observed the new hall way. As Kain stepped though it was dark he could not see anything. He then thought of another spell that he knew from youth. Sure enough bright light eminated from his hands as it lit the whole coridor. Kain smirked "While natural light can harm a vampire, magical light has many uses indeed..". Kain walked on down until he came to another double door entrance. Depicited on it was a human like figure wrapped in a black cloak. The image looked like a human version of Janos Aldron. Kain knew that this was indeed the chamber of the Betrayer. He drew the Reaver again and opened the door. The room he entered was well furnished with red carpet and an open fire. Two chairs seemed to be at its centre and sat within one was the creature Kain had come so far to see. Kain sheathed the Reaver and drew closer to the arm chair from which was faced away from him. All he could see its occupent was a clawed hand on the edge of it clutching a chalice of what appeared to be blood. Kain walked a little closer still until the voice spoke "So you return Kain I sense you have many questions for me". Kain stopped "I take it i am in the presence of the Betrayer?". The voiced laughed "Is that what they call me now perhaps it has not been as long as I thought". The Betrayer stood from his seat and walked towards Kain, He was tall almost taller than Kain. His black hair was much like Janos but his vampiric features were evident. His skin has pale and cracked he had clawed hands and feet and possed two great horns that seemed to come out of the bottom of his chin. He was a little hunched and wore black garments much in the same style as Voradors, but what was evident was his cape, a long black cape frayed at the bottom with a large collar that seemed to surrond his neck. Kain undetured started his questioning "I need answers about my destiny I surgest you answer quickly!". The vampire stopped and looked at Kain and then smirked "First let me introduce myself" said the vampire "I am Count Dracula of Transilvania indeed the first vampire within Nosgoth". Kain frowned "Vorador said something of this as well how is that possible?". Dracula laughed again "anything is possible my friend please take a seat". Dracula waved his hand towards an open chair. Kain knew better than to trust this Dracula but he did as requested he sat with in the chair. Dracula followed and sat oppsite he then resumed his convosation with Kain "I have much to tell you, and I think it would be relevent if you knew some more history about your people as well". Kain felt anger boil up in him "I have no time for this!". Dracula frowned "You have nothing but time Kain and If you wish your answers I surgest you listen to what I have to say!". Kain knowing he could not win fell silent, Dracula continued "Over a thousand years ago there was a war, as you know between the Winged race and the Hylden, It was at this time I came to your world I had crossed space and time". Kain frowned in disbelief "A vampire being able to cross space and time how is that possible?", Dracula smiled at Kain "When you have lived as long as I Kain such feats are easierly executed, I had orginally come from Romania on Earth In my youth as a human I Killed many and drank on there blood, that is when I started to turn". Dracula looked away to the fire "I was killed on a campaign one day and I came to what I thought was the very depths of hell, surronded by screaming souls and fire". "An ancient voice spoke out to me It promised me vengence on mankind for my death, I accepted" Kain smirked rembering his own ressurection by the hands of Montanius. "For years I pillaged Earth killing the incocent to satisfiy my blood lust but in the end I found no peace." "The voice of my benafactor came to me again some hundred years later he wished me to move from Earth and find new plesures on another world I readily accepted." "I came here to Nosgoth where I was met by the Hylden, deadlock In combat refusing to serve a god that the winged people was trying to force upon them". Kain looked at Dracula confused "What how is that so? Was it not the Hylden that started the war". Dracula looked back at Kain "Kain your elders are not as pure as they claim, it was the winged beings that started the war". Dracula swirled his chalice of blood and took a sip he wiped his mouth and continued "I fought with the Hylden but to no avail we were.... defeated". Dracula sighed "And so while my comrades were banished, In my fury I unleashed the blood curse on your ancestors". Kain jumped up in anger "So it was you who made Nosgoths first Vampires and doomed my race for all time". Dracula looked away from Kain back at the fire "I was convinced I had done the right thing turning the winged beings from there once benevolent god". Kain looked away as Dracula continued "But when I saw the carnage I wrote from my terrible desicion I wanted to make things right It was then I found out who resurected me..." Kain looked towards the fire "The Elder God". Dracula nodded "He said to me I had chosen the wrong side but It didnt matter now as the circle was complete I was no longer needed, I thought off the infulence of the Elder God for years before I gave the first glimmer of hope to the Vampire race". Dracula got up from his chair and paced the room "I told them of the profiecy of the Vampire and Hylden champions and of the Scion of Balance I could looked into the future, they read the signs...". Kain finished Draculas sentence " but miss read there meaning I know that better than you do". Dracula continued to pace the room " The only way you can restore this world Kain is in the way you would never have thought possible". Kain waited patienctly for Dracula's answer, Dracula said at last "The three must become one!"
