Kain's Shrink

"What's on your mind today, Kain?" Dr. Feliz asked.

Kain sat on the couch in her office, fingering the massive sword. "It's foolish," He said in a low voice. "I have ruler Nosgoth for centuries, but there is some admiration I do not care for."

"What kind?" Dr. Feliz asked. She had been seeing Kain now for over a year, ever since the end of Defiance made him feel a bit happy.

"I have received letters." Kain said shifting in his chair. "From human females."

"What is in these letters?"

Kain scoffed. "Love poems, declaration of undying feelings. You see why it is foolish."

Dr. Feliz nodded. "I see. You are a video game character and these females have fallen in love with you."

"Yes!" Kain lifted his head. "Why do they do that? It is a foolish notion."

"Well even the highly educated can fall for a fictional character." Dr. Feliz said. "Myself included."

"You. No." Kain nearly hissed.

"It's true. My weakness is a British officer named Tavington. He shares many of your traits. Brooding, mysterious, long hair, can brandish a sword with deadly accuracy, and is considered evil by others in the fiction."

"How evil?" Kain asked raising his eyebrow.

"He locked some people in a church and burned it down."

"I will have to remember that one." Kain said.

"The point is, some women like the bad guy. And if you don't mind me saying, you are a wonderful example of a bad guy. But what makes you even more desirable is the same thing that makes Tavington desirable. You do have a vulnerable side."

"That's not true."

"What about Umah?" Dr. Feliz countered.

"She betrayed me." Kain pointed out raising his voice.

"And you wanted her to be your queen, correct?" Dr. Feliz pointed out before Kain could raise the Soul Reaver.

"Some women find that very attractive." Dr. Feliz said remembering the look on Tavington's face when he was looking at the flowers, while in the building behind him men were being tortured. "It may have something to do with your voice as well."

"What about it?" Kain asked.

"You have a lovely voice. I know it really belongs to Simon Templeman, but matched with the dialog it can be quite a turn on for some." Dr. Feliz thought for a moment if Jason Isaacs ever did a voice for The Legacy of Kain series, she would have a very hard time playing it. She mused about that for a moment. Perhaps another vampire.

"Doctor." Kain said, drawing her out of her little fantasy. "We are talking about my problem."

"Sorry," Dr. Feliz could feel herself blushing.

"So what do you recommend." Kain asked.

"Don't let it bother you so much. Remember it's perfectly healthy for them and it' normal for you to be uncomfortable. But if it really bothers you, you could have someone go through your fan mail first." Dr. Feliz offered.

Kain nodded. "I will do that."
