Flight of Angels

Dianna

My master, Raziel, has long since been gone, but he told me before he left, as I shall tell you. For I have seen, you are the next to be granted wings. Now come close my child, and I will tell you, just as my master told me, the secrets of our haven.

Our great leader, Raziel, had summoned me. Being only a fledgling I was terrified. Had I done something wrong? Was I to be cast into the ever-swirling abyss? I was a foolish child. I walked, trembling; to my master’s own private chambers. As afraid as I was, I could not help but be surprised. I had expected something grand, but he had a plain room with a balcony, much like the one I had my self.

The place had an air of emptiness about it, it was as if in any normal circumstance it would be filled with Raziel’s personal belongings but now it was bare. It was almost as if he was clearing out for some one new to move in

He was standing out on his balcony, gazing out upon Nosgoth.

“Dianna” he said in his soothing voice. He turned and smiled warmly at me. There was only kindness in his beautiful golden eyes. How was it, I wondered, that he knew my name? I was nothing, only a fledgling of no importance . Oh but I was ignorant of my fate.

He surveyed me for a time, his eyes taking on an intense look.

“You do not know why I have summoned you to me” he finally said. He had read me like a book! Was I that obviously confused? He laughed good-naturedly at my surprise. “You do not know why I have summoned you, so I shall tell you little one.” He beckoned for me to join him on the balcony, the view of Nosgoth was breath taking, the moon rose above a purple mountain, casting shadows in the silvery moonlight.

“I have seen you in my dreams of late . in the beginning of the dreams you are as you are now, wingless, but the dream would turn and you would turn into a winded creature I believe that this is an omen of your future I believe that you will be the next to be gifted with wings.” I was shocked, I was only a fledging, a low ranking vampire, should not one of his own lieutenants be the next to have wings? “When you grow them” he continued “you will instruct your successor this: fly west to the vast ocean and cross it, upon its far shore is our paradise, in the mean time, rule in my stead.” With that he spread his glorious wings and took flight. Westward he went, to paradise. And with this I leave you, and beg you tell your own successor the same.

Raziel

I have told Dianna of her fate, she knows what to do. I have confidence that she fulfill her task. But what of me I wonder. Will I be able to withstand such a flight? It is after all my first. But as of yet I have mysteriously felt no weariness at all perhaps I am not going to this “paradise” on my own but rather, an unseen force is directing me to my questionable fate. I must admit that I have felt ancoius to arrive at my destination if only I knew where exactly it was I know I have instructed my children to fly west to the great sea and so I go that way, but I know not what truly lies on that yonder shore. However I know what future lies before me should I falter and miss that yonder shore. It will be pain, pain such as I have never known before I am certain of this fate should I fall in so I continue to fly. But what compelled me to take this trenchers path in the first place? Was it the dreams? Was it the dreams where I was brutally murdered by my own brethren? But who would believe such a foul dream I did not my self. All that I can tell is the feeling that leaving would have been infinitely better then staying. For my own fate and that of the entire clan. For now, I fly.

Kain

Raziel had been missing for quite some time before I realized. But it was oh so fitting that he should do such a thing. He had unconsciously saved his own life and those of his entire clan. It was also surprising that he should find his free will so early in his life. But this act had rewritten Nosgoths history entire, no longer was Raziel to become the soul reaver no, Raziel was to become something much stronger then that .

With Raziel’s leaving came a string of previously unforeseen events. His brothers changed at an alarming pace, coming to forms that in normal circumstances would have taken them centuries to achieve. And with these changes they too left. Rahab swam Dumah tunneled Zepon climbed Malchia used his powers to teleport himself and Turel simply ran they all went in different paths but I had the feeling they were all going to the same place. At first it was only the clan leaders that left, leaving me to believe that they all simply had the urge to abandon their clans. Then they began to leave, the clans at first left one by one, and then eventually in small groups that after a time became huge groups at a time. At times I could look from the sanctuary of the clans and see black spots disappearing into the mountain side or look up into thee utterly dark sky only to see the Razilim flying high overhead blocking out all ling there may have been. All of them leaving and none coming back either they were dieing there or they were becoming gods  I did not think they were dieing however, for I would have felt them leave this world they only became stronger my sense of them increasing every minute  so much so that I was sure that the even humans could sense my sons. I did not like the way these thing were going the mere thought of my sons in absolute power sent a sort of horror through me I had never known before they had to be stopped and soon before they laid the inevitable doom upon this land

So I followed the last of the vampires to leave, a group of Turelim. These vampires did nothing extraordinary to my luck, I could follow them easily or so I thought. They ran they simply ran, never ceasing, over hills and into valleys, they ran at a harsh pace to this day I know not how I managed to keep up with them, but I did, I followed tem to their “paradise”. I slipped in just behind them I knew that the gates would not be opened ever again this was the very last group of arrivals. The city in which they resided was perched upon a hilltop, in every way grand it put my own empire to shame. So I stalked the shadows of this glorious city, avoiding contact with what I was sure was the clans of my sons these beings I was sure could not force me out if there were only a small group of them, but these streets were teeming with what used to be vampires

At last I came upon the fortress I was sure my sons resided in, it was a gaudy building more a castle then any thing. I opened the grand doors into this huge structure I was curiously unchallenged as I strode inside. There was but one grand staircase in this building that split into two winding sets of stairs going up into the infinite, but I only needed to step upon them to summon my sons to me.

“Who dares intrude upon our holy keep?” it was Malchia’s voice that inquired my being. I whirled around to find not one but all of my sons in a semi circle around me, blocking my exit.

“ You must listen to me y-” I was cut short by Raziel’s comtemptful words.

“We must listen to nothing vampire” he spat. Whether he thought himself Sarafan of god I cared not either way he could not be reasoned with in any civil manor. I drew the soul reaver, its blue glow had inexplicitly gone missing it seemed Raziel’s soul was no longer in the blade then I realized, to defeat my sons I must imprison Raziel’s soul within the blade once again. Once the reaver was again the soul reaver I could defeat all of them but not a moment before then so I knew what I must do Raziel would fall first.

“A challenge?” Raziel asked some what surprised, a look came over is face and he let out a cruel laugh “very well vampire if it is death you seek, I accept your petty challenge” going to this place certainly had changed my Raziel. Raziel took on a fighting stance and smirked he may have been a god but he still did not know his fate, but I did and used this knowledge to my own advantage.

I will not go into the gruesome details of the fight, but I will tell you one thing, and it should be obvious to you now. I lost that battle agenst my sons and now it is only a matter of time before the entire world is destroyed
