After Raziel’s sacrifice and I defeated The Elder, well for the time being at least , I headed back to the chamber in the citadel. If I could not change my fate I would have to cut it short. I pulled The levers into the correct position, back to the year I sentenced Nosgoth to hell. I looked at the Reaver blade in my hand, why had Raziel done it? Would what I was about to do prove his sacrifice to be the right decision? I made my decision and looked into the portal. I took a deep breath and sighed. Then walked in and felt that odd feeling of displacement that I had grown accustomed to throughout this journey. I appeared in the chamber again and hoped to God that it sent me to the right time. I rushed out of the chamber I needed to make it there in time to stop my younger self. I climbed into the viewing chamber and looked over at the pillars. I saw a flash behind me, and turned around. It was Llanos! He was with Raziel too. "Kain!" Raziel said to me! Llanos turned to me but stayed silent. "I ripped out your heart! You should be dead" He was sincerely surprised. "I have had a taste of luck just as before, but this reviver did not reveal itself to me." I said. "But, I must go now, I do not have time." I said hoping Raziel would listen I walked toward the opening and began to make my departure. Raziel held that sword of his across my chest. "What are you doing?" I said. "I killed you once I can do it again." Raziel said. "Raziel… Let him go, I think he has a part to play in this yet. Raziel looked at me with those glowing eyes of his and then receded. "Thank you Raziel." I knew this would be the last time I ever saw him. I turned again. "I bid you a farewell." I bowed to Llanos and then burst into a cloud of bats. I materialized in a tree and watched in aw myself talking to Ariel. Now had come the time of judgment the time I needed to make the choice that would make or break history that one cataclysmic moment in my life. I jumped to the ground. "Do you really think that the choice you are about to make is the right one Kain?" I said to him. "Who are you?" He said drawing the Reaver blade and pointed it at me. I drew mine and scratched it against the side of his blade the blades sparked. "Do you not recognize yourself? What you will become, of course I am the only one of your kind left after you destroy the pillars." I said. "I don’t believe you!" He slashed his sword at me. I side stepped it. "If you do not surrender your life in the honorable way then I will have to dispose of you." I said, I also knew that his death would also mean mine and I was ready for that sacrifice. He slashed at me again. "Fine, you have made your decision." I slashed at him and he countered. I smiled. "Yes I remember how good I was when I was younger… But you cannot defeat wisdom!" I attacked him and then he knocked my sword back. I wrapped my claws around his neck. "Goodbye, Kain!" I took a breath and then shoved the sword deep into his body. I dropped him dead to the ground and grasped my own torso and screamed. I was dying… I expected it… I felt that falling feeling that I had before in the cathedral. My knees buckled and I fell to the dirt. Then I felt it… A rumbling from the wound then the Reaver blades raised into the air and orbited each other. I looked down and out of my wound came a blinding stream of light that went toward the Reaver blades. They spun and then exploded. It was as if the world where on pause and the sound was gone not a bird moved and then, the same blinding flash of light passed over the land at incredible speed knocking me back under the shadows of the trees. Suddenly there was no pain left, I was alive and I looked over the land that was now green and the vibrant. He had succeeded. It was over he went back to the Citadel and transported himself back to the time where Raziel was still alive… When he appeared there were his lieutenants even Raziel who it had not grown into his wings yet, they all cheered. It was done, I had cheated fate and spit in its face. The vampire race was risen again, we were Gods again. I had learned a lesson in this, we might all be shackled to the wheel of fate, but everyone has a key they just need to turn it. The End |
